How to Reach:

The Triund Trek itinerary begins at McLeodGanj, which serves as the starting point of this exciting trail. From there you can take a short 25-minute walk, take a taxi, or an auto ride to Dharamkot. Dharamkot is the base camp for the Triund Trek and is located 3 kilometres from McLeod Ganj.

By Air: The nearest airport to McLeod Ganj is the Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala, which is located around 21.9 kilometres away. Upon arrival, you can take a taxi or a bus to McLeod Ganj, which takes around 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. You can take a connecting flight from various cities in India to Gaggal Airport, also known as Kangra Airport.

By Train: Pathankot Railway Station is the nearest major railway station to McLeodganj, located approximately 90 kilometres away. Regular trains operate between Pathankot and major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, making it a convenient option to reach McLeodganj. Taxis, buses, and shared vehicles are easily available from Pathankot, taking approximately 3-4 hours to reach McLeodGanj.

By Road: McLeod Ganj is well-connected to cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, and Haridwar by road. You can choose to drive your car, rent a taxi, or even take a private as well as public bus ride to reach McLeodGanj. From Delhi, the journey is around 495 kilometres, and a bus ride takes anywhere between 11 to 12 hours. Once you reach McLeodganj, you can hire a taxi, or an auto, or walk from the bus stand to reach Dharamkot.

Triund Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Trek from Dharamshala to Triund | Descend to Leta Campsite
Welcome to Dharamshala! Meet your guide at the Bhagsu Naag Taxi stand to begin your trek. Get briefed about the trail and hydrate well as you begin your trek to Triund. On your route, see the BhagsuNag Waterfall before a stop-over at Shiva Cafe to enjoy the local flavours. Next, continue your trek via Katrani Dhar and enjoy breathtaking views of Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar mountain range from the top. Later, trek back to the Leta campsite to enjoy a bonfire, followed by an overnight stay.

Trekking Distance: 9 km | Duration: 5-7 Hours | Elevation: 2850 Ft.

  • Begin your trek from the Manu Adventure India Office towards Triund, the “Crown Jewel of Dharamshala.''
  • Meet the trek leader and get briefed about the popular trail.
  • Start the trek towards the beautiful BhagsuNag Waterfall through the dense oak and rhododendron forests. 
  • Next, try local flavours as you stop at the Shiva Cafe, and from here the trail gets steeper. 
  • Continue your trek to Triund via Katrani Dhar, and upon reaching, enjoy the magical views of Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar Mountain Range. 
  • Next, begin your descend to the Leta campsite for a bonfire with music and dinner, followed by an overnight camp stay.

Downhill Trek from Triund to Mcleodganj
In the morning, admire the beautiful sunrise and witness the magical views of the surroundings. Post check-out, trek back to McLeodganj. On the way, spend time at the beautiful BhagsuNag Waterfall, visit the ancient BhagsuNag Temple, and visit the local Tibetan market. Later, upon reaching McLeodganj, enjoy the day at leisure and you can visit the Namgyal Monastery, Dal Lake and more.

Trekking Distance: 9 km | Duration: 5-7 Hours | Elevation: 2297 Ft.

  • Post check-out, begin your descent towards McLeodganj, passing through picturesque oak forests, deodar forests, and witnessing the amazing views of Kangra Valley, Dharamshala valley and more.
  • Visit the ancient BhagsuNag Temple, a popular pilgrimage site and witness the BhagsuNag waterfall adjacent to the temple. 
  • Before the day ends, explore the local Tibetan markets for Tibetan handicrafts, carpets, carvings, clothing, accessories and more

Know Before You Go for Triund Trek

  • Since its difficult to provide all the facilities in the mountains, one must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Bonfire would be dependent on weather conditions.
  • In case of bad weather any Govt restriction, the campsite location might change to Dharamkot.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the triund trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • The Triund trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travellers littering may be fined.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Triund trek.
  • It is recommended to carry season wise clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Triund trek.
  • Take your time adjusting to high altitudes, as the weather conditions can be different from lower areas.
  • Listen to your trek leaders or instructors carefully for a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the tour.
  • Please carry a valid ID proof.
  • No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the package.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the trek.
  • Please note that in the event of emergencies or natural calamities, the management reserves the right to modify the trek itinerary. However, any changes due to circumstances beyond our control is not covered in the package cost.
