Overview

Karjat is a city near Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Its steep Ulhas Valley is lush in the rainy season, with a full river and waterfalls. Bahiri Cave, overlooking the valley, is a Hindu pilgrimage site. The river Ulhas finds its origin in Karjat and trekking and historical spots make it a popular destination for trekkers and adventure enthusiasts.

About the Trek:

Surrounded by lush green grass and landscapes, the trek route towards Sudhagad is beautiful and scintillating. The 50-acre plateau with green meadows won’t fail to mesmerize you at the top. Navigate through steep stairs and ladders to reach this strategically placed fort. Back in the 2nd century BC, the devotees of Bhorai Devi built a temple at the top. Later the fort was captured by Bahamani Sultan while Marathas took over it in 1657 and named it as Sudhagad, which means the sweet fort. The tour duration is 16 hours.

How to reach:
You can easily reach Khopoli Railway Station, Mumbai by private or public transportation.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    10:00 am- Meet at Khopoli Railway Station

    11:30 am- Reach Pali through local transportation

    11:40 am- Take tuk-tuk for base village Thakurwadi

    12:30 pm- Start the trek

    02:00 pm- Lunch break near the first bastion

    03:30 am- Reach the top and head towards Pant Sachiv Wada for night halt and freshen up

    04.00 pm- Fort Exploration

    06:30 pm- Pitch tents

    07:00 pm- Campfire

    08:30 pm- Dinner time and retire for the day.

  • Day 2 -

    06:30 am- Wake up call

    06.40 am- Remaining fort exploration

    07:30 am- Breakfast time

    08:30 am- Start descending

    10:15 am- Reach base village

    11:15 am- Reach Pali and have lunch

    12:15 pm- Leave for Khopoli

    01:30 pm- Reach Khopoli tentatively and trek concludes
