How to Reach:

The Triund Trek itinerary begins at McLeodGanj, which serves as the starting point of this exciting trail. From there you can take a short 25-minute walk, take a taxi, or an auto ride to Dharamkot. Dharamkot is the base camp for the Triund Trek and is located 3 kilometres from McLeod Ganj.

By Air: The nearest airport to McLeod Ganj is the Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala, which is located around 21.9 kilometres away. Upon arrival, you can take a taxi or a bus to McLeod Ganj, which takes around 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. You can take a connecting flight from various cities in India to Gaggal Airport, also known as Kangra Airport.

By Train: Pathankot Railway Station is the nearest major railway station to McLeodganj, located approximately 90 kilometres away. Regular trains operate between Pathankot and major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, making it a convenient option to reach McLeodganj. Taxis, buses, and shared vehicles are easily available from Pathankot, taking approximately 3-4 hours to reach McLeodGanj.

By Road: McLeod Ganj is well-connected to cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, and Haridwar by road. You can choose to drive your car, rent a taxi, or even take a private as well as public bus ride to reach McLeodGanj. From Delhi, the journey is around 495 kilometres, and a bus ride takes anywhere between 11 to 12 hours. Once you reach McLeodganj, you can hire a taxi, or an auto, or walk from the bus stand to reach Dharamkot.

Triund Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Triund Trek via BhagsuNag Waterfall

Trekking distance: 7 km

Report to the Bhagsu Nag Taxi Stand before 10:00 AM and begin the Triund Trek towards the biggest waterfall in McLeodganj. Unload your bags at the campsite in Leta village and trek towards the top. Witness the magnificent Dhauladhar mountains across the Triund valley. Then, begin to trek downhill back to the campsite for dinner. Enjoy a bonfire session with music followed by an overnight stay.

Activity: Trek to the Biggest Waterfall in Mcleodganj
  • Begin your trek towards the waterfall.
  • Marvel at the cascades of water pouring down from the BhagsuNag Waterfall.
  • Continue to trek to the campsite in Leta Village to check in to the allotted tents. 
  • Reach the top and enjoy the picturesque views of Kangra Valley on one side and the Dhauladhar mountain range on the other.
  • Begin to descend to the campsite for a music and bonfire session with dinner.
  • Retire to your tents for the night.
Day 2
Downhill Trek to Mcleodganj

Trekking distance: 7 km

Wake up to the sunrise amidst the mountain peaks and have breakfast. Head back to the starting point in Mcleodganj as the trekking adventure comes to an end.

Activity: Descent to Mcleodganj
  • After breakfast, begin your trek down to Mcleodganj as the venture concludes.

Know Before You Go for Triund Trek

  • All the activities depend upon the weather.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government are to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitisation and use of mask recommended.
  • Please carry a valid ID proof at the time of the activity.
  • Since its difficult to provide all the facilities in the mountains, one must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Bonfire would be dependent on weather conditions.
  • In case of bad weather any Govt restriction, the campsite location might change to Dharamkot
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the Triund trek package.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home. Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the triund trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • The Triund trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travellers littering may be fined.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Triund trek.
  • It is recommended to carry season wise clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Triund trek.
