Har Ki Doon Trek Package Inclusions:

1. Accommodation – You will be staying in a Guesthouse/camps in Sankri and in camp on the remaining days of the trek (3 people/tent). The room/tent is separate for the male and female participants.

2. Meals – (Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner). We provide simple, nutritious veg/Jain food on all days of the trek

3. Trekking equipment – High-quality tents and sleeping bags in all the camps. Sleeping bags can withstand temperatures as low as -10 ºC.

4. Safety equipment – First aid kit, oxygen cylinders, oximeter, etc. will be with the guide/trek leader and at the campsite as well to deal with emergencies.

5. Expert trek Leaders – All our trek leaders are at least qualified in basic/advanced mountaineering and first aid courses.

6. Expert Trek support team – The mountain staff on Har Ki Dun trekking consists of certified guides, cooks, helpers, and porters.

How to Reach Dehradun:

The base camp of Har Ki Dun trek is the quaint village of Sankri. In order to reach this destination, you need to visit Dehradun. It takes approximately 9-10 hours to reach Sankri from Dehradun, covering a distance of 198 kilometres. 

By Air- The nearest airport to Sankri is Dehradun, Jolly Grant Airport, which is easily accessible from all metropolitan cities within India by direct and connecting flights. It takes around 3-6 hours to get to Dehradun, depending upon the distance covered, and the number and duration of layovers.

After reaching Dehradun,you can take a taxi or a cab to Sankri. 

By Train- Reach Dehradun railway station by boarding some of the regular trains that connect Dehradun from most major parts of India like Amritsar, Kolkata, Delhi, and Chandigarh. These trains are Amritsar Dehradun Express, Kumbh Express, Doon Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, and Kathgodam Express. Upon reaching Dehradun, you can avail a taxi or a car to reach Sankri. 

By Bus- You can easily get a public or a private bus to Dehradun from all nearby cities like Saharanpur, Chandigarh, Ambala, Pathankot, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, and others. Himachal Road Transportation Corporation and Uttarakhand Transport Corporation function majorly upon these routes. As you reach Dehradun, hire a taxi or a cab to reach Sankri. You can also take any of the three early-morning local bus services (private and public both) to go to Sankri, covering 197 kilometres in around 8 hours.

By Car- NH 72A, NH 7, and NH 307 are some of the most important highways that connect Dehradun from nearby places. It is 257 kilometres away from Delhi, and it takes around 5 hours to reach by car. You can simply hire a car and enjoy a scenic long-drive to this hill station, rest for the night, and then steer your way up to Sankri the next day.

Har Ki Dun Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at Dehradhun | Start your journey towards Paradise of Himalayas

Trekking Distance: 0 Km

Embark on your journey as our driver picks you up from Dehradun, transporting you to Sankri in a 9-hour drive. Your day concludes with an overnight stay at a guest house in Lohajung.

Rental in Bolero, Tempo Traveller or similar

The driver will pick you up from the railway station or bus stand and will help you transfer from Dehradun to Sankri for an overnight stay.

Activity: From Purola to Sankri: A Tranquil Trekking Transition

Purola is the last big settlement on the route, with a large market. So, it is recommended that the trekkers buy anything they might have missed out on in Purola itself. It is also the last village where most of the mobile networks work.

The road after Purola winds through a beautiful pine forest. We arrive at Sankri by early evening.

It is a small village with a central market lined with a few shops. The village has numerous apple orchards, which are harvested starting in late summer.


Day 2
Sankri to Puani Garat | Witness the sprawling wild flora throughout the journey

Trekking Distance: 12 Kms

After breakfast, you'll board an SUV and drive through a bumpy forest road and multiple streams. After an hour, we'll reach Taluka, a small village with a few shops, from where you will trek to Puani Garat, the first campsite, and stay overnight in the camp

After checking out from your homestay or guest house, the driver will pick you up and drop you off at a small village called ‘Taluka’

Activity: From Taluka to Puani Garat: Trekking Along the Supin River

The SUV will drop you off at Taluka, and this is where you start trekking to the first campsite at Pauni Garat.

The trail passes through the stony path with the fragrance of cedar trees, and you’ll be walking close to the river Supin, which is gushing through rapids.

After a few hours of walking past the villages of Datmer and Gangad, we continue our trek till we reach the secluded campsite at Puani Garat.

Day 3
Puani Garat to Kalkatidhar | Explore unclimbed peaks and alpine meadows.

Trekking Distance: 10 Km

Begin your day after breakfast by trekking to Osla, the final village. The steep trail leads to Kalkatidhar campsite, offering a mesmerizing sunset and an overnight stay amidst nature.

Activity: Osla Village: Scenic Halt on the Har ki Dun Trail

The landscape surrounding Osla is full of terraced farms. Osla is the last village on the route to Har ki Dun.

While trekking, you will spot a temple and pass by bushes of orchids, fleece flowers, and sunflowers.

The journey today is rather short, which allows for acclimatizing to the high altitude and preparing for the next day's journey.

Day 4
Har Ki Dun trek | Get the best views of the Swargarohini Peak

Trekking Distance: 17 Km

Early start to explore the glacier basin, adorned with alpine meadows in the enchanting Har ki Dun Valley. Bask in the beauty of towering pines and peaks—Swargarohini, Black Peak, and Hata Peak—before returning to Kalkatiyadhar camp.

Activity: Kalkatidhar to Marinda Tal Trek: Waterfalls and Snow-Clad Peaks

As we start the trek, at a short distance, a hidden and roaring waterfall is encountered, along with a small tea shop beside the waterfall.

Trek for some more time to reach the confluence of the rivers Supin and Ruinsara to get a view of the snow-clad peaks of Ruinsara Valley, including Black Peak, the highest peak in the region.

Upon reaching the final point, relax and soak in the environment for some time before continuing the trek to Marinda Tal, 2-3 km ahead.

After our short visit to Marinda Tal, we make our return journey back to Kalkatidhar on the same route, as it becomes much easier to go all downhill from here.

Day 5
Kalkatidhar to Puani Garat | Get an insight to the Garhwali culture

Trekking Distance: 10 Km

After a hearty breakfast, retrace your steps via Osla village to Pauni Gharat. Descend gradually, savoring moments with villagers and a closer look at village life.

Activity: Scenic Ramble: Osla Village to Puani Garat via Valley Views

On the route, we come across a good view of the trail to Osla and see the valley descend towards Taluka, around the curve of the ridge where the two streams coming from Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara, respectively, converge.

After reaching Osla, one can roam about in the village, talk to locals, and soak in the Garhwali culture.

We continue our journey from here to our earlier campsite at Puani Garat, where we can spend time basking in the sun.

Day 6
Trek from Puani Garat to Sankri | Follow the Trail lead by Flock of Migratory Birds

Trekking Distance: 10 Km

Morning trek from Puani Garat to Taluka, retracing Day 1's scenic trail along the River Supin. SUV ride to Sankri for an overnight stay after a day of picturesque descent.

The driver will pick you up from Taluka and help you with the transfer to Sankri for an overnight stay.

Activity: Descending Delight: Views and Vistas from Puani Garat to Sankri

As you trek downhill, the views will seem different, as the perspective changes significantly while trekking downhill, and the walk takes less time than before.

The drive to Sankri will also be eventful, as you can cherish the beautiful vistas that will accompany you throughout the journey.

Day 7
Sankri to Dehradun | End of Journey with Endless Memories

Trekking Distance: 0 Km

Today, being the last day of the trip, after your breakfast, you will depart for Dehradun, passing through beautiful towns like Mori and Mussoorie. Upon your arrival at Dehradun in the late evening, your trek to Har Ki Dun concludes.

The driver will pick you up from Sankri and help you with the transfer to the Dehradun Railway Station or bus stand.

Know Before You Go for Har Ki Dun Trek

  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the trek.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated
  • In case, the trek needs to be cancelled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government is to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitization and use of mask recommended.
  • Please provide a valid ID at the time of check-in.
  • The exact location will be shared with you post-booking.
  • Professional guide(s) are available to ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Neat and clean vehicle for the journey with experienced driver especially for hilly terrains available.
  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Porter & mule support to carry camping equipment. Please note that personal luggage can be carried by mules and/or porters on chargeable basis
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the Har ki Doon trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Transportation to and fro from Dehradun Railway Station is available on request on additional charges
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the Har Ki Doon trek package.
  • Itineraries are based on information available at the time of planning and are subject to change.   • Liability for change in itinerary due to reasons beyond our control like a change in flight and train schedule, cancellation of flights/1trains, political disturbances, natural phenomenon, roadblocks, etc. will not be accommodated in the package cost. No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
  • During a trip, in case the roads are blocked due to landslides or a reason that is beyond control, Thrillophilia will rearrange the itinerary for the travellers real-time, however, the cost of alternative accommodation will be borne by the customer as the hotels pre-booked execute their cancellation policies and are nonrefundable.
  • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the Trek or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed.
  • The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to change in the number of guests, hotel change, itinerary change, etc.
  • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
  • The refund or compensation is also not issued if for any reason you have to come down from the trek. The trek leader may send you down from the trek, owing to reasons like lack of fitness, AMS, blood pressure, turn-around-time, health issues, or if you are found smoking/ drinking, or breaking the rules of the trek. refund or compensation are issued only when the whole trek is cancelled or called off on behalf of Thrillophilia.
  • At Thrillophilia, we almost never call off or cancel our treks. But in the rare event we might have to call off or cancel a trek due to any unforeseen natural catastrophes like continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity or other issues like local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any such situations that might prevent a safe trekking experience. In such cases, Thrillophilia will issue a Credit note summing up to the same amount as your trek fee that can be redeemed on any of the treks over a period of the next year.
