Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

Drive from Manali (2000m) – Jobra (2707m, 45 minute drive), Trek from Jobra – Chikha (3000m, 2 hour trek)

Arrive at Manali and from here take a short drive to Jobra through verdant thickets of pines, spruce, deodar chestnut and maple trees. Surpass luxuriant pasturelands dotted with shepherds and their sheep. You might even have to cross the river at a vantage point if there is no bridge built by the shepherds to reach the lush meadow of Chikha. This simple trek of about 2 hours takes you through cascading waterfalls. Set up camps here and rest for the night.

  • Day 2 -

Trek from Chikha – Balu Ka Gheera (3600m, 4-5 hour trek)

Start off with a hearty breakfast, then head off on your Hampta Pass and Chandratal trek by cutting across the stream and moving through rocky sections. You will also come across prairies filled with exotic flowers and a waterfall before arriving at the campsite in Balu Ka Gheera. There will be a few breaks in the midst of the hike which spans for about 4 hours. Upon arriving at the campsite, witness the stunning network of river channels and intimidating mountains standing tall all around. The guides have the option of walking up further ahead for another hour to reach another campsite with the same name higher in the mountains to ensure a shorter hike for the next day. Unwind at the campsite and retire here for the night.

  • Day 3 -

Trek from Balu Ka Gheera – Hampta Pass (4300m) – Shea Gahru (3700m, 6-7 hour trek)

Wake up early morning and depart by 5-6:00 AM hiking across snow-covered terrains, depending upon season and weather conditions. Ascend up steep slopes through ridges to arrive at the pass for about 4-5 hours and take in the splendour of the mesmeric views around. Enjoy the panoramic sight of Deotibba and Indrasan peaks as well as the majestic Lahaul ranges and then descend towards the campsite. This hike will take about 2-3 hours leading you to Shea Gahru which is nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. Settle down your camps here and tuck into your comfortable tents for the night.

  • Day 4 -

Trek from Shea Gahru – Chatru (3300m, 3-4 hour trek), Drive from Chatru – Chandratal (4300m, 2-2.5 hour drive)

This day’s hike entails a downhill trail with Lahaul and Spiti offering you with a plenitude of magnificent views. Cross through some tricky terrains of river crossings, scree and moraine to arrive at Chatru. From here you can climb onto a vehicle and take a road journey towards Chandratal for over 2 hours. When you reach the charming lake, set up your camps amidst the scenic environs and retire here for the night.

  • Day 5 -

Trek from Chandratal – Kunzum Pass (4600m, 3-4 hour trek), Drive from Kunzum Pass – Manali (2000m, 5-6 hour drive)

Post breakfast, start the last leg of your Hampta Pass and Chandratal trekking expedition from the lake to the peak of Kunzum Pass standing at 4600m through semi-arid terrains. Once at Kunzum Pass, a vehicle will be awaiting you to drive you to Manali crossing the mesmeric Rohtang Pass on the way. From Manali, continue onwards to your journey home.

The trek was all fun and interesting. Also, a long lake trek is something that I definitely wasn’t expecting at this inexpensive rate. The travel to and fro were very comfortable. We had best time with the co-trekkers. As I said earlier, it was quite inexpensive too. The food served during the trek was not that nice

What an amazing trek that I had. It indeed was a good trek. Firstly, thanks to the team for organizing this. The main factor is that the lake trek was well planned and executed. Kudos! The organizing team had a nice itinerary made and shared with all of us. Also the trek was quite a brilliant one. All the trekkers were enthusiastic. Planning such a trek while living in the other side of the country wouldn’t have been possible. Thanks to the team for organizing this. Taking occasional camps helped us to relax and refresh. The overall cost was quite cheap too. As in except for flights, almost everything was covered, which was definitely a good thing. Also the food served during the trek was good and nice. We did have a great trek overall. I am so recommending this to people interested in long treks. All you need to know is to prepare well by stamina and strength training.

It was so worth it. One of the good places to have a long trek. Make sure you have good cameras as this place is so very gorgeous. We had so much fun while trekking as we had some brilliant co trekkers as a lovely company. Also, going on a well-organized trek is a good thing and I am glad that the team had it all well-organized for the trekkers. It actually makes us happy to have spent the money on such planned treks. Also, we were just two people, it would have been expensive to plan a trek all by ourselves. We definitely would not have found friends or acquaintances to tag along. This was a nice option to people like us.

As we were a really small gang of 3, trekking with other trekkers had made it more fun. Lake treks always amuse me and the fact that this trek was a long lake trek amused me even more. I have been to just one lake trek before, but reading all the stories of trekkers about their lake trek actually made me take this trek. If you are looking for a nice Lake Trek which is adventurous, challenging, and fun at the same time, then Chandratal Lake Trek With Hampta Pass is the right choice. The rates are also quite cheap for such a long trek. This is one of the advantages of taking a tour pack.

I was looking for a trek that is both fun as well as challenging. My friend who recently took this suggested it to me and I am just spellbound by the trek as such. I am super glad. I always concentrate on the adventure, but this lake trek had got me a whole new perspective on trekking as such. This trek is without any argument the most beautiful trekking zones in India. The beauty of Hampta Pass had got me and I have no words to explain how much fun this whole thing was. I am so mesmerized by the beauty of it.

Amazing trek experience: This was my first time at Chandratal Lake Trek With Hampta Pass and it was just so brilliant. I never thought that treks could be beautiful too. The overall trek experience was just awesome. I really find no words to explain how best the trek was. Be it the trek, the food served, the camp, the cotrekkers, the trek guides, or the whole scenario of the area, it was all just perfect.

Trek to Hampta Pass and Chandratal, Manali – The trek is an amazing trek. We had a great time. Chandratal Lake Trek With Hampta Pass was a brilliant trek that I had taken. Although, this was definitely a very good trek, it would have been nice if the package had discounts. Lake treks always amuse me a lot. It is so much fun than the normal treks. A long trek was something that I always dreamt off. Also, the camping during this trek made it even more fun. It was one of the best long treks taken ever. It is definitely a little bit tedious and tiring, but it is all worth it. I totally loved this trek and this was definitely one of the best treks I had hands down.

Lake treks are always amusing. It is just that planning them can be really very tedious. However, by taking this pack, we did a good thing and we had loads of fun. Only concern was that this could have been better if there were more discounts for group bookings. Although, if we had planned it ourselves I guess it would have been more customized. Still, it was a really nice trekking experience we had there. It was a nice trek. I liked the whole experience. The food served was full vegetarian and it was a good thing. Also, the food was clean and hygienic. The trek was quite tedious but it was totally worth it.

While the trek was incredibly brilliant the weather was so pleasant, the food killed the whole mood. I know it is a trek, but better food could have been provided for the cost charged. This is my first long trek and I was totally exhausted after the trek. However, while reliving it in memories, I do know that it was awesome. I am so recommending this trek. I am so outta words to explain how much I enjoyed this long trek. It was brilliant to say the least. This is once in a lifetime kind of trek for me.
