Chandratal Trek With Hampta Pass Itinerary

Day 1
Manali – Jobra (Drive) Trek from Jobra to Chika (10,100ft)

After a wholesome breakfast at Manali, you will drive to Jobra from where the Chandratal Lake trek originates. At this transfer point, receive briefing from your trip leader and gear for an easy ascent of 10,400ft to Chika

It's an easy trek to the Chika campsite on the banks of Rani Nallah, a 2 km trek that walks you into a mixed forest of pine, green maple and birch trees

With the mesmerizing topography of the Himachal coming into play, you barely realize the climb. While trekking, walk along River Rani who introduces the surroundings of big rocky hills in absolute splendor

Stay in dome tents.

Day 2
Chika (10,100ft) – Balu ka Ghera (11,900ft) (Trek/Moderate/ 5hrs).

Leave from Chika campsite on yet another easy day. Though you would trek for barely 5hrs, the journey is beyond impressive.

Feel the reality of being in the Himalayan region as you catch the first glimpse of the outer Himalayan chain of mountains as the Dhauladhar ranges begin to appear.

Commonly referred to as The White Range, you’ll notice the mighty towers occupy the entire frame with meadows and flower filled valleys dotted for company.

Arrive at Balu ka Ghera. Settle down at this base for the day. Have lunch and spend the rest of the time, loosing yourself in an ambiance which will take your breath away.

Day 3
Balu ka Gera (11,900ft) – Siagoru (12,900ft) and crossing Hampta Pass (14,100ft). (Trek/ Moderate/ 8hrs).

Day 3 is one where you get to experience the barren landscape of the Himalayas in the Lahul and Spiti Valley. Such a variety in one region is what makes the Hampta Pass Trekking most attractive especially among amateurs.

Start your day with steep ascend till the Pass. Enjoy a beautiful panoramic view from the top and then start descending towards the next campsite.

Discover the serene calmness that surround the valley, you might meet shepherds at this high altitude pass who visit the valley to nourish their sheep with the special grass that grows around the area.

After a brief stopover at Hampta village, which gives the pass its name, you’ll begin the descent to the base camp at Siagoru.

Earn the well deserved rest here after the 8hr long journey as you halt for the night.

Day 4
Siagoru (12,900ft) – Chatru (11,000ft) and drive to Chandra Tal (Trek/ Easy / 4hrs)

Massive Pir Panjal Ranges, Chandra Tal

This day will prove to be a fairly simple expedition around the Himalayas. After breakfast, begin an easy descent through the Hampta Valley.

Find the group of Pir Panjal ranges of the inner Himalayan circle appear ahead of you. This dominating landscape trails along with you all through Spiti till you arrive at the base camp at Chatru.

Enjoy the spectacular view of a high altitude cold desert at Spiti Valley.

Post your brief interaction with yet another natural beauty of the Himalayas, head to Chatru. A confluence of three paths – Hampta Pass, Spiti, and Rohtang Pass, this green paradise in the barren cold desert is like a breath of fresh air.

You’ll drive to Chandratal, a moon-shaped alpine lake located at an altitude of 14,100ft. One of the most enchanting lakes in this region, it is here that you’ll fall head over heels in love with the Himalayas.

Day 5
Drive from Chandra Tal to Manali via Rohtang Pass.

It is the day when your Hampta pass trekking adventure comes to an end.

After breakfast, traverse the high altitude pass that connects the humid Kullu Valley and the arid Lahaul and Spiti Valley.

Arrive at Manali and disperse for your homeward journey with a bag full of memories.

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the trek needs to be canceled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.

  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the package.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the trek.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for the trek

  • During a trip, in case the roads are blocked due to landslides or a reason that is beyond control, Thrillophilia will rearrange the itinerary for the travellers real-time, however, the cost of alternative accommodation will be borne by the customer as the hotels pre-booked execute their cancellation policies and are nonrefundable.
  • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the Trek or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed.
  • The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to change in the number of guests, hotel change, itinerary change, etc.
  • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
  • The refund or compensation is also not issued if for any reason you have to come down from the trek. The trek leader may send you down from the trek, owing to reasons like lack of fitness, AMS, blood pressure, turn-around-time, health issues, or if you are found smoking/ drinking, or breaking the rules of the trek. refund or compensation are issued only when the whole trek is cancelled or called off on behalf of Thrillophilia.
  • At Thrillophilia, we almost never call off or cancel our treks. But in the rare event we might have to call off or cancel a trek due to any unforeseen natural catastrophes like continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity or other issues like local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any such situations that might prevent a safe trekking experience. In such cases, Thrillophilia will issue a Credit note summing up to the same amount as your trek fee that can be redeemed on any of the treks over a period of the next year.
