Fixed departure: 21st January, 2016
Meet Up at Delhi Railway Station at 06:00 AM: To start journey, we all gather at Delhi Railway Station at 06:00 am to board the train. We us this 4 hour journey as an ice breaker session, where we get to know each other, talk about the things we do, & things we like. Most importantly, you will know Kavya, who is gonna take you through this amazing weekend.
Reach Etawah, move to Chambal and check in: - The journey takes about an hour and it shall be dotted with occasional stops we may take in Etawah to see a few spots in this little town surrounded by once infamous badlands of Chambal. Etawah was also one of the major cities where Mutiny of 1857 took place, get transported into stories of war, plotting, and buildings that existed then. We check into a restored wildlife haveli which doubled as camp office during cattle trade way back in 1890s. The accommodation is as dreamy as it can get and settle with a hearty lunch of our choice,
Visit to Bateshwar Temples: - Bateshwar was once an ancient settlement, the little town is dotted with numerous temples devoid of usual crowd. They stand tall silently displaying the power of belief. The ghats of Bateshwar transport you to vibes of Benares, just that they are more calm and shall make you do that little prayer in your heart. This part of day undoubtedly shall stay with you for a long long time
Quiet dinner at hotel with star-gazing: - Once back to lodge, we enjoy sumptuous community cooked meal, over a bone-fire. We use this time to look back on the day, and discuss plans for next day. Interested people may also join our tour creator Crazyfeet Kavya for a session of star gazing in the clear skies of a small town. Its optional though coz nights in Chambal in January gets cold.
Chambal Boat Safari in National Sanctuary : Breakfast Kavya says is the most happy time of the day, over fried eggs one can talk anything between sun and earth literally as we gorge on the must meal of the day amidst neat manicured gardens of lodge. We reach another highlight of the Trip The Chambal Boat Safari. The National Sanctuary region of Chambal is divided in three states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and is home to the endangered Gharial (a variety of crocodile). What shall keep you hooked even if you a historical buff is how our energetic Crazyfeet spots birds and even doles out their scientific names almost as good as a Naturalist ;) The Safari shall be undertaken on a boat slowing wading through the waters of Chambal with breathtaking views of the ravines for an unforgettable experience.
Camel Ride to Chambal Ruins: - The area around Chambal has been seat of Rajput, Marathas and served as critical points during battle and war of independence. Numerous buildings, alleys still echo of folklore, incidents and stories, we go back in time machine on camel to explore the areas surrounding the river until we get some tan to show back to Delhi.
Return to lodge and check out: -We reach back to lodge, exchange pictures, sip our last teas before catching our train back at 1800 hrs., What stays with us, are beautiful vistas of once badland of Uttar Pradesh, rustic landscape with rich wildlife & Kavya’s stories. Train drops us to Delhi at 22:00, where we say good byes to each other with a promise of travelling together again
