How to Reach:

By Air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (Kullu-Manali Airport), approximately 50 kilometres away. From the airport, one can hire a taxi or use local transportation to reach Old Manali. It will take 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach there.

By Train: The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar Railway Station, located about 166 kilometres away. You can reach Old Manali in 4 hours by taxi or bus. Alternatively, Chandigarh Railway Station is a major railhead at a distance of approximately 310 kilometres. From there you can reach Old Manali in 6 hours and 30 minutes. The major trains operating on this route are Kalka Shatabdi Express, Chandigarh SF Express, and Paschim SF Express.

By Bus: There are regular government (HRTC and UTC) and private bus services from major cities to Manali. The distance from Delhi to Manali is around 540 kilometres, and buses take approximately 14-16 hours. From the Manali Bus Stand, it is a short distance to Old Manali. You can hire local transportation or a taxi to reach the starting point of the trek.

Day 1
Arrival in Manali
Your adventurous Bhrigu Lake trek begins as you reach Manali. Upon arrival, head to your campsite. The rest of your day is to discover the charm of Manali, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. You can visit Hidimba Temple, Jogini waterfalls, or can visit Cafe 1947 to enjoy delightful time. Later, head back to your campsite for an overnight stay.

Day 2
Transfer to Gulaba | Trek from Gulaba to Rola Kholi
In the morning, head towards the taxi stand in Old Manali to get transferred to Gulaba. As you reach Gulaba, your thrilling trek from Gulaba to Rola Kholi begins. Travel through lush green open meadows and witness river streams passing along the trail. Upon reaching, Rola Kholi, settle-in at your campsite for an overnight stay.

Trek distance: 6 km | Duration: 3 hours | Elevation: 12,566 Ft.

  • Your trek to Rola Kholi begins with a steep ascent with brown oak, cedar, and birch trees on the trail. 
  • After approximately 20 min, the trail enters a meadow where shepherds camp. From here you can witness Mount Hanuman Tibba, below which seats Beas Kund. 
  • Further, turn towards the upper ridge and head south, from where the second forested area begins. 
  • After crossing and walking further, you will reach the Rola Kholi, situated at the base of Bhrigu Lake. 
  • As you reach, soak in the views of the clouds popping from the valley below as you settle down for an overnight stay.

Day 3
Trek from Rola Kholi to Bhrigu Lake
Start early today for your trek to Bhrigu Lake, as you have to cover a lot of distance today. On the way, witness panoramic views of the Pir Pinjal and Dhauladhar ranges. As you reach Bhrigu Lake, settle-in at your camps for an overnight stay. After getting comfortable, admire the small flowers that sneak out, and shine through the cracks of the boulders, creating a master art by nature.
Activity: Trek from Rola Kholi to Bhrigu Lake

Trek distance: 6 km | Duration: 3 hours | Elevation: 12,566 Ft.

  • Begin your day and trek to Bhrigu Lake, located between high-altitude ridges. 
  • During the trek, witness the trail slowly and gradually turning from green to white and brown. 
  • Further following the trek, you will reach a small lake that stays fresh green with alpine flowers and turns white during winter due to snow.
  • On a clear day, you can catch a stunning view of major peaks such as Indrasen, Deo Tibba, and Hanuman Tibba. 
  • As you reach the Bhrigu Lake, keep your foot carefully as it is normally enveloped in fog making it tricky to stroll around. 
  • Further, settle-in at your camps for an overnight stay and admire the surrounding beauty.

Downhill Trek from Bhrigu Lake to Kulang Village | Transfer to Manali
Today's trek down is an easy one. You will trek downhill from Bhrigu Lake to Kulang Village. As you descend back, you will witness the same meadows you came up from. As you reach Kulang Village, you will get transferred to Manali. Once you get dropped-off, your adventurous trip comes to an end.

Trek Distance: 5 km | Duration: 3 hours | Elevation: 10,370 Ft.

  • Begin your descent from Raula Kholi campsite to the Kulang Village.
  • Travel through the similar trail, and relish the beauty of nature from a different perspective.
  • En route, you will get to witness some of the most breathtaking peaks including Mt. Hanuman Tibba and the Seven Sisters rising from the Beas Kund.
  • As you reach Kulang Village, get transferred to Manali for your onward journey.

Know Before You Go for Bhrigu Lake Trek

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travellers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the trek needs to be cancelled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
  • Professional guide(s) are available to ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek.
  • Neat and clean vehicle for the journey with experienced driver especially for hilly terrains available.
  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Electricity will be available at the Manali campsite. However, there will be no electricity at the campsite on the trek.
  • Manali is the last point where you will get ATM. Please carry sufficient cash with you during the trekking session.
  • Base camp is around 2 km from Mall Road of Manali.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Bhrigu trek.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Bhrigu lake trek.
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicants during the Bhrigu trek.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the Bhrigu Lake trek package.
