About the Destination:

Recognised by high mountain passes, snow clapped peaks, scenic valleys and pictorial meadows, the Stok Kangri climb is a hit with the adrenaline junkies. Originating from the Himalayas of the Leh-Ladakh region, this enthralling Stok Kangri trek takes the trekkers through some of the highest passes and peaks in the country.

Attaining a total height of 20,130ft, the terrains and passes in this trek are considered as difficult ones and it is always better to grab in prior trekking experience in order to complete this trek. Also, as the oxygen level decreases with the increase in height, one must get acclimatised before embarking this climb.


  • Day 1 -

    Arriving in Leh, check-in into a guesthouse and unwind yourself from the tiredness of the journey so far. As the climate prevailing in this region is entirely different from other places, it is important to get acclimatised to Leh’s climate; utilise the entire day in getting habituated to the climate change. If you wish, you can also visit the Leh Market and feast on the exciting sites of the local life; overnight stay in the guesthouse.

  • Day 2 -

    Post breakfast in the hotel, mark the beginning of this exciting trek with a shot drive to Stok Village. Arriving at the hamlet, start with the trek and follow the gentle and clear trails to the Stok River on the right side. Continue with the pleasant trek till you reach Chang Ma; get settled in the campsite and retire for the day.

  • Day 3 -

    Today’s course comprises of gradual hike through the stunning Dry Valley. Up on arriving the valley, enjoy the openness and pristine beauty that exists in the vicinity and start descending down towards Mankorma. Arriving in Mankorma, get settled in the camps and call it the end of the day!

  • Day 4 -

    After having breakfast in the Mankorma campsite, start with a steady and gradual ascend. Within 2-3 hours of trekking through the scenic trails, arrive at the Base Camp and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch. Post lunch activities include a mock or acclimatising climb in order to prepare yourself for the next day’s trek. Come evening, settle down in the camp; overnight stay in the camp.

  • Day 5 -

    Today will be vested to prepare yourself for the final climb to the Stok Kangri Summit. Spend the day at rest, check all the trekking and climbing equipment.

  • Day 6 -

     After trekking for all these days, today you will get to climb to the fascinating Stok Kangri Peak! Get started with a delicious breakfast in the camp followed by a trek through the ridge of a stunning glacier. The trails here are pretty much difficult and requires expert suggestions; do pay heed to the trek guides and instructors while crossing through these regions.

    Up on crossing the glacier, the climb will get steeper than before and will test all your mental and physical abilities! But once you overcome these ardent trails, you will be rewarded with the captivating Stok Kangri Summit. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Zanskar Range, Tibet Border and the snow-clapped peaks from the summit before you start trekking down to the Base Camp; overnight stay in the camp.

  • Day 7 -

    Today, on the last day of the Stok Kangri climb, start trekking downhill towards the Stok Village. Compared to the last day’s trek, today’s descend will be easier and while trekking for around 6 hours, you can witness several historic forts and castles that are exposed to the hands of ruins. Passing all these, arrive at the hamlet and wish adieu to the fascinating trek.

    Here onwards, you will be driven back to Leh, where you will be dropped at a guesthouse. Spend overnight in the guesthouse and continue with your onward journey from here.
