About the Activity:

No one can ignore the fact that the Great Himalayas is the desire of every adventure lover! Be it trekking, driving, motorcycle expeditions or any other activities, the Indian Himalayas is the epitome of all adrenaline pumping activities.

With this 10 days driving expedition that originates from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and winds up in Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir, the participants will get the opportunity to drive their own vehicles through the winding and enthralling terrains. Furthermore, the challenges, obstacles and the excitement of driving through the tricky trails of the Himalayas will offer the participants, the much deserved adrenaline pump!

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Shimla

    Leisure Day

    It is advisable, all the participants should arrive early in Shimla as the check-in at the hotel starts at after 0200PM. Lunch will not be provided. The rest of the day will be spent at total leisure with overnight stay in The Wildflower Hall, an Oberoi Hotels run 5 star property rated as the 5th best resort in Asia.

  • Day 2 - Drive from Shimla to Manali

    250km/8 Hours Drive, Jalori Pass

    An early morning drive from Manali through the ancient Hindustan-Tibet route will take you to Jalori Pass. Over the day, you will be driving around 250km and will reach Manali by the end of the day; overnight stay will be in a Solang Valley Resort a 4 star property.

  • Day 3 - Drive from Manali to Jispa

    145km/7 Hours Drive, Rohtang Pass, Lahaul Valley

    While on today's drive, you will be driving through the enthralling Rohtang Pass. Another 72km drive from the pass will take you to Jispa, a quaint hamlet located on the banks of the Bhaga River in the Lahaul valleys. Overnight stay will be in Hotel Ibex, Jispa, which will help you in getting acclimatised to the higher altitudes.

  • Day 4 - Drive from Jispa to Sarchu

    72km/4 Hours Drive, Baralacha La Pass, Surajtal Lake

    After having breakfast in the hotel, embark on a drive along the Bhaga River and make it to the fascinating Baralacha La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. During this driving trail, you will be crossing the scenic Surajtal Lake and upon arrival in Sarchu, you will be spending overnight in Goldrop Camp,

  • Day 5 - Drive from Sarchu to Leh

    251km/8 Hours Drive, Zanskar Range, Gatta Loops, Hairpin Bends, Mountain Passes, More Plains

    Today's drive will be one of the most enthralling experiences so far! On this drive from Sarchu to Leh, you will be driving through the pictorial Zanskar Ranges, the exhilarating Gatta Loops that are known for 21 hairpin bends and takes the visitors towards the Lachung La and Nakee La passes, Pang and More Plains, and finally to the Tanglang La Pass. During the course, you will be visiting the Thiksey, Shey and Hemis monasteries. Arriving in Leh, check-in into Grand Dragon Ladakh a 5 star property.

  • Day 6 - Leh

    Local Sightseeing

    Wake up in the morning and embrace the alluring charm of Leh. Post breakfast, embark on a local sightseeing tour to witness and experience the indigenous cultures, tradition and the rich heritage of Leh and its locals. During the tour, visit to some of the important monasteries will get you acquainted with the spirituality that exists in the region.

  • Day 7 - Drive from Leh to Hunder

    128km/5 Hours Drive, Khardung La Pass, Himalayan & Karakoram Ranges, Nubra Valley, Camel Ride, Sand Dunes

    The most exciting drive of this expedition, today's drive will take you through the towering Khardung La Pass, the highest motorable pass in the world. From the pass, enjoy the panoramic views of the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges and continue driving towards the scenic Nubra Valley, where you can witness the arid deserts of Leh-Ladakh. The once an important trade route, Nubra Valley is also the home to some of the 17th century gompas. This include the Samstanling and Chamba Gompas.

    After this scenic valley, you will be driving to the Diksit Monastery, which is located on a hilltop. Visit and explore the peace and tranquillity that exists in this ancient monastery and drive to the rustic Hunder Village. While in the village, you can enjoy an enthralling double-humped Bactrian camel ride and also visit the Hunder sand-dunes; overnight stay will be in Royal Camp.

  • Day 8 - Drive from Hunder to Pangong Tso Lake

    250km/9 Hours Drive, Lakeside Camping

    The drive from Hunder to the magical Pangong Tso Lake will be an extended one, but on the completion of this journey, you will be rewarded with enchanting views and memorable experiences. Flowing through both India and China, the Pangong Tso Lake is one of the most stunning and high altitude lakes in the world. On arriving at the lakeside, you can feel the bucolic charm, it holds for its visitors; overnight stay will be in Martesemik Camp.

  • Day 9 - Drive from Pangong Tso to Leh

    145km/6 Hours Drive, Pagong Lake

    Waking up in the morning, enjoy the pristine and untouched beauty of the lake under the first rays of the morning and have your breakfast. Post this, embark on an enthralling drive through the scenic trails and make it to Leh after around 6 hours; rest of the day will be spent at leisure with overnight stay in The Grand Dragon Ladakh a 5 star property.

  • Day 10 - Drive from Leh to Mulbeg

    185km/6 Hours Drive, Magnetic Hill, Hairpin Bends, Hangro Loops, Fotu La, Lamayuru Monastery

    While on today's drive from Leh to Mulbeg, you will get the opportunity to pass through the Magnetic Hill, which is known for its illusion of dragging vehicles uphill. Driving further and crossing the 18 hairpin bends of Hangro Loops, you will reach the Fotu La, the gateway to the Indus Valley and the highest point in the Srinagar-Leh Highway. On your way, you can also visit the Lamayuru Monastery and finally mark the end of the day with an overnight stay at Nunkum Camp in Shargol.

  • Day 11 - Drive from Mulbeg to Srinagar

    244km/7 Hours Drive, Srinagar, Zojila pass, Tiger Hill

    On the final day of the exciting expedition, you will drive to Srinagar, the capital of Jammu Kashmir. A 7 hours' drive, the journey will take you through Zojila Pass and Tiger Hill that stands as a testimony to the Kargil War. Upon arrival in Srinagar, check-in into The Lalit Grand Palace a 5 star property.
