The Port Arthur Historic Site is an important part of Australia’s convict history. Located on the Tasman Peninsula in Tasmania, it is one of the country’s best-preserved former penal settlements. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it includes more than 30 historic buildings, ruins, and restored houses set across open grounds and gardens.
With a 2-day attraction pass, you can take your time to explore the site. The pass includes access to the Port Arthur Gallery, which presents information and exhibits about the people who lived and worked there. A 20-minute harbour cruise is included and gives you a view of the site from the water. Throughout the day, staff lead short site talks at key locations, allowing you to learn more about the place and its history.
You can also download a digital audio guide on your phone, which lets you move around the site at your own pace while listening to historical context. A free shuttle for guests with limited mobility operates at the attraction.
