Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre: Set up just to rehabilitate orphaned baby orangutan now has become the world's largest Orang Utan rehabilitation center. You will be visiting the viewing gallery and feeding platform where the apes are fed milk and bananas twice a day at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm by rangers. Feeding time also attracts long-tailed macaques to the area.

Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre: This place is well known to promote sun bear conservation in Borneo through animal welfare, conservation, rehabilitation, education, and research. You will be visiting and will be viewing sun bears in their natural habitat.

Mangrove River Cruise: You will be enjoying this amazing cruise and can also spot wild animals like Proboscis Monkeys, Otters and Kingfishers. When getting dark, fireflies will light up the trees which allow you intoxicated.

Itinerary:

08:30:  Pick up from the hotel and will leave for Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center, after registration, trek 10 mins through the rainforest on wooden boardwalk to the Feeding Platform.
10:00: Witness the morning feeding of Orang Utans return to the reception center and watch scheduled video program (25 mins) later visit the Exhibition Hall and then have Lunch.
13:00: Visit Borneon Sun Bear Conservation Centre
15:00: Visit Sepilok for the second feeding and then proceed to Sandakan later take a speedboat from Sandakan for about 15 mins and reach Tanjung Aru Island. Enjoy tea break and then take a cruise to spot wild animals.
19:00:  Enjoy a slow cruise and witness the fireflies lighting up the trees. After that, transfer to a local seafood restaurant to enjoy dinner. Later transfer back to respective hotels.

      There are totally 60 to 80 orangutans living here in this reserve. As a part of the rehabilitation, orangutans are rescued from logging sites, plantations, illegal hunting or kept as pets.     4. Are we allowed to take photographs with animals?

      Yes. Photography can be taken with animals in the reserve. It’s always fun and entertaining to share a photo with your favourite animal. Hence, don’t miss to bring your high-definition camera to get some awesome photographs. Please note that there is no commercial photography and other photo shoots allowed inside the place. For Orang Utans, they can give pose like sitting next to you or hugging you like a friend. These animals are human-friendly, and they stand still until you get a perfect picture of it. But all photographers are advised not to use the flashlights while taking photos. It may cause discomfort or hurt the animal’s eyes.

    5. What are the timings?

      The tour timing starts at 8.30 am, and it ends at 7.30 pm. Tourists who’ve opted for the transfer facility will be picked up around 8.15 – 8.30 am, and they’ll be taken to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre directly. Here, they can watch the Orang Utans’ daily activities and get to know their protection and conservation methods. Then, you can have lunch at 1.00 pm and later visiting the most-awaited Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Similar to Orang Utans, here the Sun Bear are rescued and rehabilitated by the rangers. Finally, Orang Utan with Sun Bear & Mangrove River Cruise is finished with an amazing river cruise to the Tanjung Aru Island.

    6. What is the cancellation policy?

      Yes. Visitors can cancel this Orang Utan with Sun Bear & Mangrove River Cruise tour, but if they’d like to get some refund, they need to read the cancellation policy as given below. • If you cancel more than 31 days before the tour date, you will get 95% of the tour package. • If you cancel between 16 and 30 days before the tour date, you will get 50% of the tour package. • If you cancel within 15 days before the tour date, you will not get any amount as refund. The refundable amount will be processed and transferred to you in 10 working days.

    7. How many sun bears are there?

      The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) has been started in 2008, taking care of seven captive Sun Bears. After constant development, the organization has gradually increased its size of bears to 20 in 2010. And by 2014, the number has emerged to 33. Thus, for the future generation, the management has taken initiatives to construct a second bear house and forested enclosures with capacity for 20 additional bears. By providing constant care and rehabilitation to the rescued Sun Bears, the organization ensures the absolute right of every bear to live in the forest.

    8. Can we touch the animals?

      Yes. Visitors are allowed to touch the animals only after the instructor permits. In the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, the management has not only made a suitable environment for tourists to watch the animals closer but also allow them to touch and feel their presence. But in BSBCC, the tourists can only visit the Sun Bears at a safer distance and not encouraged to touch them. Considering the visitor’s safety, the precautionary rules are strictly followed by the rangers.

    9. Can the animals hurt us?

      No. All the animals are properly trained by the rangers before they’re allowed to meet the visitors. Through constant training, they get used to human behaviour and play with them comfortably without causing any hurt. On the other hand, tourists are also required to follow the instructions carefully and make sure they don’t irritate the animals. Thus, if anyone is new to this Orang Utan with Sun Bear & Mangrove River Cruise, they must get along with the rangers and seek their support in case of an emergency.

    10. What things should we carry?

      One must carry a valid ID proof while coming to this enthralling tour. Considering guests’ security, the management has made it mandatory to check the ID card. Apart from that, one can bring a cool sunglass, a holiday hat, a binocular, a digital camera, and a sunscreen lotion. Since there is plenty of views available to take pictures, one can also come in his/her most stylish outfit and capture those exciting moments. During the rainy season, the visitors need to carry a raincoat, insect repellent, and personal medications just in case. They can come in a comfortable dress like a cotton t-shirt and a long or short pant.
