Stay in bungalow, visit local bird sanctuary, take part in cookery show
After having breakfast in Cochin hotel, a 1.5 hours drive will take you to Kothanangalam whereby you can spend the afternoon in a century old estate bungalow. This bungalow spreads over 100 acres of multi crop plantation; tranquillity prevails in every corner of this bungalow. Hereafter, visit the local bird sanctuary and take part in a cookery show that highlights local cuisines. Return back to Mundackal Estate Bungalow for an overnight stay.

Visit Kodanad Elephant Orphanage, Elephant safari
Post breakfast in Mundackal Estate Bungalow, you will be driven to Kodanad Elephant Orphanage. In this orphanage, you will find baby elephants abandoned by their mothers or left behind by their parades. Taking part in their bathing and feeding will bring you closer to them; Elephant Safari can also be enjoyed. Relax for the rest of the day and by evening, return to Mundackal Estate Bungalow.

Visit tea museum & estate, experience tea leaves plucking
Journey to the green capital of India, Munnar, will start in the morning. Scenic beauty of the tea gardens, lush forests and pristine ambience are the pride of Munnar.
Visit the tea museum and estates, and experience tea leaves plucking along with the local people. While in the tea estates, you will be acquainted with how tea leaves are processed in the estates. Do not miss the chance to buy fresh tea leaves from these estates!
Visit Periyar National Park, watch Kathakali and Kalaripayattu
After having breakfast, a drive of 3 hours from Munnar will take you to Thekkady or the Periyar National Park. Explore the enthralling beauty of the lush forests and its wildlife. Calmness of the Periyar Lake will surely result into an unforgettable journey. Evening will be enchanted with Kathakali and Kalaripayattu (Kerala Martial Art).

Trekking, Bamboo boat rafting
Trekking and bamboo boat rafting will comprise the entire day. Trekking will allow you to feel the nature from the closest point. Various species of birds and arboreal animals will add delight to your trekking. While rafting in the Periyar Lake you can spot the massive elephants grazing in the grasslands, jungle beasts quenching their thirsts in the lake or sambars, gaurs and Nilgiri langurs roaming freely in the jungles. Rafting will last for 3 hours.
After rafting, travel back to the boat landing area. Hitchhiking to the boat landing area will fill the journey with fun and adventure. Guides will accompany you in this course, providing snacks and packaged lunch.
After breakfast in Thekkady, head towards Kumarakom. This journey will take you 3 hours to complete and once you are in Kumarakom, the beauty of tortuous rivers, canals, streams and lagoons will surely amaze you. This region is called the backwater region of Kerala.
Check into the hotel and relax for the day; calmness of this place will help you soothe your mind. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Visit to local farm, Canal cruise
Kumarakom is one of the highest visited places in Kerala. Backwaters in this region are extensively popular among the tourists. To get a close view of the local people, who still lives depending on the Vembanadu Lake, a tour to one of the local farms will be arranged.
This tour will offer you the liveliest aspect of the local life. On reaching this farm, the local people will greet you in the warmest way and will guide you through various activities in the farm.
These activities include
•Ladies making brooms from coconut palms and weaving coconut palms, which in turn is used for their thatched roof.
•Toddy tapping and collecting of Toddy.
•Fishing with traditional bamboo arrow and fishing nets.
A canal cruise for 45 minutes will be arranged to provide you a clearer picture of how the local people lives alongside the backwater. Several species of fishing bird including kingfisher can be spotted during this cruise.
Today, you can avail your private houseboats to cruise on the backwaters. Since this area is filled with canals, lakes and coves, you can enjoy an extended and overwhelming houseboat cruise for sure. These houseboats are embedded with all necessary amenities like furnished bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen and modern bathrooms.
The backwater depicts the life of the local people in a broader aspect. Locals travelling in canoes, trading vegetables and other commodities can be seen in the lakes and canals.
