The mountain biking in Himalayas spans across many districts of Uttarakhand starting from Haridwar, the holy city of Rishikesh, deeper into the district of Pauri Garhwal meandering into the remote Tehri district.

While the magnificent Himalayan ranges casts its spell on you throughout the journey, the graceful Ganges and her sister rivers Bhagirathi and Alakananda will charm you with their serene beauty. The place is a hotspot for travellers and adventure seekers alike. There are popular destinations such as the Tehri Dam, Mussourie and Landsdowne and hidden gems such as the Chamba, small village of Thatyur and the beautiful Vyasghat. 

About the Departure with Details: Your bikes are your best friend on this exciting journey that begins from Haridwar and takes you through the winding roads of Devikhal. As you delve deeper into the region, you pass the holy Devprayag, Anjanisein and Chamba. Paddling through the mountainous trail is terrific and taxing even as you reach Yamuna Bridge and finally the strenuous ride to Biratkhai. Your journey ends at Dakpaathar and you return home stronger and richer with memorable experiences. 


Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    The exciting adventure packed mountain biking in Himalayas starts from Haridwar and continues till Koudiyala, a sleepy town at a distance of about 60km from Haridwar. Get introduced to your bikes, your companions for the next 10 days. Post lunch, take your bikes and get used to the terrains till evening; overnight stay in camps. 

  • Day 2 -

    The day has more of warm up sessions in store! Begin your day from Koudiyala camp and drive to Bairaj which is only an hour away. Hop on your bikes and ride along the Ganga canal to Chilla. Stop for a lunch break and paddle back to Laxman jhulla; return to your campground at Koudiyala for night stay.

  • Day 3 -

    Get ready for hard-core biking as you begin your expedition from Laxmanjhulla! The biking team will experience the beauty and serene calm of the river Ganges and cruise through green terrace fields. On the way you will see the popular bungee jumping site. A steep climb to Noadkhal propped on a high ridge, awaits you. Once you scale the heights on your bike the invigorating Himalayan views will wash away all your tiredness and you can move towards Devikhal in order to camp for the night.

  • Day 4 -

    Begin your journey from Devikhal camp and imbibe the sights and sounds of Mother Nature even as you make your way to Silgoi which is about 11km away from Devikhal. Ride through the winding roads and rough terrain all the way to Gumkhal in Pauri Garhwal. The idyllic town of Uttarakhand is located close to Landsdowne which is the regimental centre of Garhwal rifles. Continue riding down rocky roads to the lovely Vyasghat which will be your resting place for the night.

  • Day 5 -

    Post breakfast loosen your muscles and prepare yourself for some hard riding towards Devprayag! The rough terrains won’t make it any easier for you but your hard work is worth the while. Devprayag is a popular tourist place because it is the holy confluence of river Bhagirathi and Alakananda.

    With the mighty Himalayas as your companion all the way, climb uphill to Hindolakhal and eventually reach Anjanisen. The entire journey from Vyasghat to Anjanisen is about 53 km and takes 6-7 hours to cover the stretch; resign to your tents for the much needed rest.

  • Day 6 -

    In a unique opportunity to explore the remote Uttarakhand prepare to ride your bike through the Tehri district which has the Tehri Dam, one of the tallest dams in the world on river Bhagirathi. Reach your destination to the picturesque Chamba which is largely unexplored and has a rustic charm; stay in a guest house and settle for the night.

  • Day 7 -

    The scenic drive from Chamba to Thatyur will give you the adrenaline rush and satiate your souls as you drive to Kaddukhal which is the trip’s highest point. Cover the 62 km to Thatyur village in about 6 hours with a few breaks in between.

  • Day 8 -

    You have now spent a week in the heart of Uttarakhand traversing rough roads and experiencing unexpected sights. You are familiar with the highs and lows of the mountains. Paddle up to Kyarshi from Thatyur which takes about 3 hours. Then gradually ride downhill to the Yamuna Bridge, which is located in close proximity Mussouri.

  • Day 9 -

    One of the most difficult climbs of the expedition awaits you today from Yamuna Bridge to Biratkhai. The steep climb is a test of your biking abilities and physical strength. Once you reach Biratkhai take a lunch break and proceed to the nearby Chakarta for an excursion in a car or coach; return back to Biratkhai in the evening for dinner and overnight stay

  • Day 10 -

    Unwind on the final day of your tour and take leisurely ride downhill to Dakpathar. This is the end of your thrilling mountain biking in Himalayas expedition. From here, take a drive to Haridwar; with your arrival in the city, the tour ends here.

  • Day 11 -

    The unpredictable mountains can bring in sudden showers, landslides or any other calamity. The emergency day is reserved for urgent situations or can be used up for rest and halt any time during the trip with the group’s consent.
