Trekking Expedition at Mera Peak in Nepal Overview

About the Activity:

  • Invoke in this exciting 20 days 19 nights trekking expedition in the Mera Peak, and witness the amazing beauty of this region.
  • Get picked up from the Kathmandu airport in a private car or bus and transfer to the hotel.
  • Enjoy sightseeing through the amazing beauty of the region at around 8:30 AM after breakfast. Visit Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
  • Take a flight to Lulka for about 30 minutes. Once you reach there start your trek towards Paiya.
  • Enjoy trekking in Pangkoma, Tagindingma, Shibuche and then towards  Chetrakhola.
  • Hike through Hinku Valley to Khola Kharka from where you can get the glimpse of the Meru Peak.
  • Continue trekking through Kothe, Tangnag and then head towards the Mera Peak base camp.
  • Once you reach there continue hiking to the high camp to the summit of the Mera peak. Retrace back through the same route and reach Kathmadu.
  • Get transferred to the Kathmadu airport and depart for home.


Trekking Expedition at Mera Peak in Nepal Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive to Kathmandu airport (1380m)
  • Welcome to Kathmandu. Once you reach the airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly received by our airport representative who will help you with the transfer to the hotel on a private car or a bus. After Checking into your hotels, you can either rest or stroll around to explore your vibrant surrounding at your convenience.


Day 2
Kathmandu sightseeing tour and trip preparation.
  • Your sightseeing trip starts from the hotel after breakfast at around 8:30 am. We will be provided private vehicle and a professional tour guide for the tour. You will start your sightseeing tour from the largest Hindu temple Pashupatinath, then visit Bouddhanath and Swoyambhunath (the Monkey temple). At the end of the day, you will visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square and then drive back to the hotel to prepare for the trip with a short briefing about the Mera Peak.
Day 3
Fly to Lukla and trek to Paiya (2730m).
  • From Kathmandu, we will fly towards the Lukla viewing the glorious view of the high hills and snow capped mountains. The flight will go for about 30 minutes to the Lukla and then we will trek towards the Paiya where we will stay the night at the altitude of 2730m above sea level. The trekking will continue for about 3 to 4 hours.


Day 4
Trek to Pangkoma (2850m) 5-6 hours
  • From Paiya, we will trek towards the Pangkoma. We will trek for about 5 to 6 hours through the main trail. We will trek for about 5 to 6 hours through the main trail to reach at the altitude of 2850m above sea level.


Day 5
Trek to Nagindingma (2650m) 4-5 hours
  • The trek will relatively reasonable amount of hike today. We will hike up a little distance to reach top and we go down all the way to Hinku Rive . Then strait up to Nagindingma.It will take us around 4-5 hours. On reaching Tagindingma, we can go for an exploration of the village and enjoy the sunset pouring golden rays on eastern Himalayas.


Day 6
Trek to Cholem Kharka (3365m) 7-8 hours
  • From Shibuche we will trek towards the Chetrakhola. The trekking will continue for about 7 to 8 hours through the main trail. The night will be at the Chetrakhola at the altitude of 3150m above sea level.


Day 7
Trek to to Khola Kharka (3930m) 6-7 hours
  • It is an uphill trek through lush rhododendron forests on the west side of the Hinku Valley to Khola Kharka. Rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal and on our journey we get to admire beautiful hills dotted with rhododendrons.
Day 8
Trek to Kothe (4180m) 6 hours
  • After having breakfast we have to walk straight around way we can see the first view of Mera Peak. Then 2 hours descent in Oak and Jennifer forest.After having lunch in Thakthor then continue trek to kote. The trial goes up and down- up and down up to Kote.


Day 9
Trek to Thaknak (4350m) 3-4 hours
  • From Kothe, we will trek towards the beautiful region of Tangnag. The trekking will continue for about 3 to 4 hours offering us great view of the surrounding. After the trekking for several hours we will rest the night at the altitude of 4350m above sea level. The night will be at Tangnag.


Day 10
Tangnag to Khare (5045m) 2-3 hours
  • From Tangnag we will wake up early in the morning and after having the breakfast, we will trek towards the Khare. The trekking will continue for 2 to 3 hours through the main trail. The night will be at the Khare at the altitude 5045m.


Day 11
Rest day in Khare for Acclimatisation.
  • Today the guides will carry out the last minute checking of the gears for the climb, and then arrange if any equipment becomes necessary to rent. Thereafter, we shall provide training on peak climbing techniques and the proper ways of using climbing gears such as the ice axe, climbing boots and crampons, harness, ascender, etc. The training will also include using ropes to go up and down. Although it is not mandatory to have prior training for Mera Peak Base Camp, we strongly believe that some training experience will boost your confidence and your climbing skills to increase the chances of scaling the summit as well as to fully enjoy the experience. Overnight at Khare.


Day 12
Khare to Mera Base Camp (5300m) 3-4 hours
  • From Khare our journey will head towards the base camp of the Mera peak. The trekking will continue for about 3 to 4 hours. During the trekking, we can get the first glimpse of the Mera peak through our naked eyes. The night will be at the base camp of the Mera peak at the altitude of 5300m at a tented camp.


Day 13
Mera Base Camp to High camp (5,780m) 4-5 hours
  • From the base camp of the Mera peak, we will head towards the high camp of the Mera peak. The trekking will be little tough as we have to pass through the rough trekking trail. The trekking will continue for about 4 to 5 hours through the rough surface. The night will be at the altitude of 5780m above sea level.


Day 14
Mera High Camp to Summit (6,461m) and back to Khare (5045m) 8-9 hours
  • From the high camp we will trek towards the summit of the Mera peak. The trekking for several hours will take us to the altitude of 6461m above sea level. We can get the glorious view of the surrounding mountains from the summit of the Mera peak. After enjoying the splendid view of the high and snow covered regions of the surrounding, we will trek towards the Khare retrieving the same way.
Day 15
Khare to Kothe (3600m) 4-5 hours
  • From Khare, we will return towards the Kothe. The trek will continue 4 to 5 hours through the main trekking trail. The night will be at the Kothe after trekking for several hours.


Day 16
Kothe to Chetarwa (3580m) : 6-7 hrs camping
  • Trek from Kothe to Chetarwa (Chatra-La) (3900m) which takes about 5-6 hour up and down hill, we spend the tented cap at Cherarwa.
Day 17
Chetwarwa to Lukla: 6-7 hrs Tea house.
  • Today is our last day of the trek down to Lukla. There is the pass we need to cross to go down to Lukla.


Day 18
Fly back to Kathmandu
  • From Lukla, we will fly back to the Kathmandu enjoying the great sight of the mountains from the height. The wonderful view of the high hills from the bird’s eye prospects will be interesting to see. The flight will continue for about 40 to 45 minutes. The night will be enjoying at the Kathmandu enjoying with friends.
Day 19
Final departure from Kathmandu.
  • It is finally time to bid farewell to this amazing country. Our representative will transfer you to the airport from where you will catch your flight. Bid goodbye to this beautiful nation as you fly to your next destination.
