Karjat, a mini hill station at around 60 km from Mumbai and 100 km from Pune is a perfect getaway from the daily chaotic routine. Being based along the Konkan coast, Karjat holds a very fascinating location. Lush green landscape in the monsoon season with many historical forts around makes Karjat a perfect location for trekking activities.  Among the trekking options in Karjat, a trek to Kondana Caves is a must. The antiquated rock-cut Kondana Caves are age old Buddhist caves and thus they attract several tourists who follow or are intrigued by Buddhism.

Located at the base of Rajmachi Fort, Kondana Caves are a four cave- complex built by Buddhist monks and are crowned at a height of around 200ft around Lonavala. To reach the Kondana caves one has to trek for an hour from the main town of Kondana. Be prepared to be amazed by the natural beauty around these caves. Being situated at the base of a waterfall, amidst the lush green, Kondana caves become a perfect destination to enjoy with friends and family. The caves are abode to several specimens of the Buddhist architecture like sculptures, vihara, chaitya and stupas.

Your journey starts by leaving for Kondivade village from Dadar (Near Pritam Dabha) which is the meeting/pick up point. You are picked up in a shared vehicle at 6:30 AM. By 9:30 PM you reach the base village, and post an energizing breakfast you start your ascend. After an hour long pleasing trek, reach at the top and begin your caves exploration. Spend some amazing time at waterfalls. Post descend which is followed by a lunch, to rejuvenate you from the activity, you begin your travel back to Mumbai. At around 7:30 PM you are back in Mumbai where you mark the end of your journey with beautiful memories

How to Reach: The meeting point for the trek is Near Pritam Dabha by 6:30 AM. A shared vehicle will take you to the location.
