How to reach Dehradun:

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport serves Dehradun domestically, with regular flights coming in from major metro cities in India. 

By Train: The nearest railway station is the Dehradun junction, which is well connected to major cities from all over India.

By Road: Dehradun is well connected through road network. You can either drive to Dehradun or hire a cab/taxi to reach Dehradun from Delhi or any other nearby city. Regular bus services also prevail to and fro Dehradun through an excellent roadway network

Kedarkantha Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Dehradun to Sankri | Route to The Paradise of Himalayas

Your Kedarkantha Trek starts from Dehradun. Meet the representative who will take you to Sankri, a charming village nestled in the mountains. Enjoy the scenic views along the way as you travel through beautiful valleys and villages. The route is scenic and takes you through a dense pine forest, filling the air with the sweet aroma of pines. Drive alongside the Tons River & reach Sankri in the evening. Proceed with the check-in formalities in a guest house. Overnight stay in Sankri.

  • Meet the representative at the Dehradun Railway Station/ Bus Stand who will take you to Sankri for an overnight stay.
Day 2
Sankri to Juda Ka Talab | Where Lord Shiva once came to meditate

Have breakfast and check out from the guest house. Start your trek from Sankri Village to Juda Ka Talab. Along the way, cross several high-altitude suspension bridges and small villages. Reach Juda Ka Talab, a lake that holds a mythological significance to Lord Shiva. Check in to the camps a few 100 meters away from the lake for an overnight stay.

  • Start your trek from Sankri village. You'll meet your trek guide and fellow trekkers.
  • The trail begins with a gradual ascent through a forested path. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and the sounds of nature.
  • You'll pass through picturesque meadows and small streams. Keep an eye out for colourful birds and wildlife.
  • Reach Juda Ka Talab, a serene and beautiful lake, by late afternoon.


Day 3
Juda Ka Talab to Base Camp | Get your Cameras ready

After breakfast, check out from the campsite and start your trek to the Base Camp. Immerse yourself in the beauty of a snow-lined path and patches of green that surround your way. The imposing view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana will surely fascinate you and make your experience worthwhile. Upon reaching the campsite, mark the end of the day with a wonderful dinner and retire to the tents for the night.

  • Begin your trek towards the Kedarkantha Base Camp.
  • The trail involves a steep climb, so take it slow and steady. Your trek guide will be there to assist and guide you.
  • As you ascend, you'll pass through dense forests, and if you're trekking during the winter months, you may encounter snow.
  • Enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys as you make your way up.


Day 4
Base Camp to Kedar Kantha Summit | Descend Back to Juda Ka Talab

The day you've been waiting for! Wake up early and start your trek at around 2:00 AM in the morning. You will get to feel the welcoming and filtered sun rays from the mountains of the Yamunotri and Gangotri ranges and also of the Kinner Kailash ranges. On reaching the summit witness the breathtaking view of the sun rising from the summit. Afterwards, it's time to descend back to the Kedarkantha Base Camp and then to Juda ka Talab for an overnight stay.

  • Start your trek in the dark with the help of your headlamp. The initial trail is steep and demanding.
  • Follow your experienced trek guide and fellow trekkers as you make your way towards the Kedar Kantha Summit.
  • The trail will be icy and snowy, so be cautious with every step. Use trekking poles if needed.
  • As the sun begins to rise, you'll witness a mesmerizing sunrise from the summit.
  • Reach the summit of Kedar Kantha and savour the breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
  • Spend some time at the summit, soaking in the beauty and serenity of the Himalayas and then descend back to the Kedarkantha Base Camp and then to Juda Ka Talab.
  • The descent can be equally challenging, especially on icy slopes, so follow your guide's instructions closely.
Day 5
Descend From Juda Ka Talab to Sankri | Drive Back to Dehradun | Departure

After breakfast, check out from the campsite and start descending back towards Sankri Village which is a 4 km trek taking 2-3 hours. After reaching Sankri, meet the representative who will take you to Dehradun. Hold on to as many beautiful memories as you can in your heart and bid farewell to the Mighty Himalayas with gratitude and fondness.

Activity: Trek From Juda Ka Talab To Sankri Village
  • Bid farewell to the beautiful Juda Ka Talab campsite and begin your descent towards Sankri.
  • Follow your trek guide and the same trail you took on your way up, but this time, you'll be going downhill.
  • Take your time and be cautious while descending, especially on steep or icy sections.
  • Enjoy the scenic beauty and the sounds of nature as you make your way down.

Know Before You Go for Kedarkantha Trek

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the trek needs to be canceled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government are to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitization and use of mask is recommended.
  • Please provide a valid ID at the time of check-in.
  • The exact location will be shared with you post-booking.
  • Professional guide(s) are available to ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a trek.
  • Neat and clean vehicle for the journey with experienced driver especially for hilly terrains available.
  • All the activities depend upon the weather.
  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Ensure that you stay covered with thermals and enough jackets to withstand the temperature that is between 8°C to 15°C during the day and -5°C to 3°C at the night.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the Kedarkantha trekking during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Kedarkantha winter trek.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Kedarkantha trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek leaders and guides in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • Transportation to and fro from Dehradun is available on additional charges on request.
  • The Kedarkantha winter trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the Kedarkantha trek package.
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicants during the Kedarkantha Trekking.
  • Itineraries are based on information available at the time of planning and are subject to change. "Thrillophilia'' reserves the right to change expedition dates, people or itineraries as conditions warrant If a trip must be delayed or the itinerary changed due to bad weather, road conditions, transportation delays, government intervention, airline schedules, sickness, or other contingency for which Thrilllophilia or its agents cannot make provision, the cost of delays and/or other changes are the responsibility of the participant. Thrillophilia reserves the right to decline, or accept, any individual as a trip member for any reason whatsoever.
  • Liability for change in itinerary due to reasons beyond our control like a change in flight and train schedule, cancellation of flights/1trains, political disturbances, natural phenomenon, roadblocks, etc. will not be accommodated in the package cost. No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
  • During a trip, in case the roads are blocked due to landslides or a reason that is beyond control, Thrillophilia will rearrange the itinerary for the travellers real-time, however, the cost of alternative accommodation will be borne by the customer as the hotels pre-booked execute their cancellation policies and are nonrefundable.
  • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the Trek or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed.
  • The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to change in the number of guests, hotel change, itinerary change, etc.
  • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
  • The refund or compensation is also not issued if for any reason you have to come down from the trek. The trek leader may send you down from the trek, owing to reasons like lack of fitness, AMS, blood pressure, turn-around-time, health issues, or if you are found smoking/ drinking, or breaking the rules of the trek. refund or compensation are issued only when the whole trek is cancelled or called off on behalf of Thrillophilia.
  • At Thrillophilia, we almost never call off or cancel our treks. But in the rare event we might have to call off or cancel a trek due to any unforeseen natural catastrophes like continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity or other issues like local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or any such situations that might prevent a safe trekking experience. In such cases, Thrillophilia will issue a Credit note summing up to the same amount as your trek fee that can be redeemed on any of the treks over a period of the next year.
