Arrival at Srinagar, Explore local attractions, Drive to Sonamarg
Set foot into the great lakes of Kashmir trek that is going to take your breath away! Today, after your arrival in Srinagar, if time permits, you can explore a few local attractions here like the Mugal Garden and Dal Lake. Thereafter, a 4 hour drive will get you to Sonamarg, a very pretty hill station; overnight at a comfortable guest house.
6 Hours Trek, Sindh River, Scenic Forests, Camping
Today will be the first day of your trek and be sure of a stunning start! After a sumptuous breakfast, you will set forth on a trek that initially traces the path of the Sindh River. As you ascend, be sure to take a look at the Sonamarg Valley for a view so picturesque that it seems like a painting. As you continue, make your way through lush green forests of maple and pine. After a moderately difficult trek of 6 hours, you will reach Nichnai – the first campsite of the trek. Rest of the evening is at leisure for you to enjoy.
6 Hours Trek, Meadows, River Crossing, Nichani Pass, Camping
Today’s trek will be a little more arduous than the day gone by. An early start to the day will take you through the most beautiful meadows. The view is so stunning that you will find it hard to take your eyes off the landscape. Trek on, crossing a river and along ascending trails to reach Nichani Pass that is in fact hidden among ridges in the hilly ranges. Enjoy breath taking views of snow clad peaks to your left and seamless stretches of land on the right. From here, you will make a descent during which you will see lakes, rivers and meadows from an altitude. Your destination will be a campsite along the banks of a lake that originates from the Vishansar Lake.
Twin Lakes of Vishansar and Kishansar, Camping.
After having made it to a place that is akin to heaven, it is only natural to stay on and explore the region. And today, you will take a day off to revel in the beauty of Mother Nature. Explore the twin lakes of Vishansar and Kishansar, witness clear blue lakes that flawlessly reflect the landscape comprising of mountain peaks, clouds and clear skies! Capture picture perfect scenes and enjoy a leisurely day!
6 Hours Trek, Gadsar Lake, Camping
Today you will begin your trek by making a descent from Kishansar Lake. A descending trail followed by a scenic walk across green meadows will get you to the Gadsar Pass. As you make your way along the trails, you will be able to see stunning views of the twin lakes from a distance. Capture the image in your mind’s eye that will be visible till you have reached the top of the ridge. Once the pass has been crossed, the other side is a long green valley that is dotted with distant peaks and small lakes. Gadsar Lake, your destination for today is one of the most beautiful and pristine lakes of this trek, is a sight to behold; overnight stay in tents.
6 Hours Trek, River Crossing, Satsar, Camping
Begin your day early after a healthy breakfast followed by a 6 hours trek that will take you down descending trails to Satsar, which is an interconnected collection of 7 different lakes. Feel the icy cold waters while crossing the rivers and ascending through the trails. Arriving in Satsar, settle down in a camp and spend overnight.
6 Hours Trek, Rough Terrains, Gangabal Twin Lakes, Camping
Today, your trek will have alternating ascending and descending treks. The first part of the trek will be challenging with rough terrain that is covered with boulders. You will trek through pristine pine forests and exotic flora and fauna. The Gangabal Twin Lakes are rather large and are known for trout fishing; overnight at camps set up near the lakes.
6 Hours Trek, Trip Ends Here
Get set for a challenging descent as you make your way down steep trails. However, be sure to appreciate the landscape that envelops you all through. Your trek will end when you have reached Narang that is at an altitude of 12500ft. Later, drive back to Srinagar with memories that will last you a lifetime! Your 7 nights/ 8 day Kashmir great lakes trek comes to an end.
