It was a splendid tour to Japan! The cities, the islands we visited were breathtaking as well as the bullet rain ride was too good.
1. Senso Ji Temple: The oldest Buddhist temple in the country, the Senso-Ji Temple is among the most popular inclusions in the Japan tour package from India. The temple, built in a traditional Japanese style, is dedicated to Kannon Botatsu, the Bodhisattva of compassion. Adjacent to the temple is a five story Asakusa Shinto Shrine, which is another major attraction here.
2. Miyajima Island: Also known as the Shrine Island, the trip to Miyajima is one of the best parts of the Japan tour from India. The centuries old Itsukushima Shrine is the star attraction here, along with the world famous floating Torii Gate.
3. Kyoto: Nestled on the island of Honshu, Kyoto is one of Japan’s most popular tourist destinations. The erstwhile capital of the country, the city is known for its various Buddhist temples, gardens and imperial palaces. Some of Japan’s oldest traditions are still preserved here, such as kaiseki dining and Geisha entertainment.
4. Mount Fuji: The only live volcano in the country, Mount Fuji is the single most sought after tourist site in Japan tour packages from India. Trekking is the most popular activity here, with millions of tourists making their way to the peak each year. The mountain is twice as beautiful during the spring months, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
1. Take a ride on the Mount Komagatake Ropeway: Taking off from one of Hanoke’s peaks, the ropeway ride on Mount Komagatake is one of the best ways to enjoy the beauty of the Japanese countryside. On a clear day, the ropeway commands splendid, uninterrupted views of the distant Fuji and the Lake Ashinoko below.
2. Enjoy a cruise on the Tokyo Bay: Offering clear views of the Tokyo coastline, the river cruise on Tokyo Bay is one of the best ways to spend one’s Japan tour from India. There are several kinds of tours available here throughout the day. The dinner cruises are especially popular, offering brilliant views of the city as it is lit up in the dark.
3. Take a tour around Hiroshima: A tour around Hiroshima is an absolute must try for those looking to explore the history of Japan. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and the Genbaku Dome on the island stand testament to the 1945-atrocities of the Island. An Imperial Palace, along with a garden, form additional attractions here.
- By Air: Japan being an island country, the only way to reach it from non-South Asian countries is by air. Japan is connected to most major countries by flight, with the airports at Tokyo, Haneda and Osaka being the major international airports here.
- By Ferry: Some international ferry services cater Japan transfers as well. There are some routes between the country and Korea, Russia, China and Taiwan. However, this route generally takes more time than travel by air.
The best time to visit Japan would be during the spring months, between March and May. Not only is the weather then cool and perfect for sightseeing, but the cherry blossoms are in full bloom as well, covering the country in a blanket of pink and white.
Although international travel can be heavy on the pockets to begin with, Japan is considered to be fairly expensive for Indian tourists. The average cost of a week’s stay in Japan can range anywhere between 70,000 INR to 1.2 lakhs INR, depending on the choice of accommodation, travel and itinerary.
