About the Destination:

Located in a cradle shaped valley below Fateh Parvat, Har ki Dun trekking is renowned for its spectacular scenery. Mixed of alpine meadows with views of glaciers, towering peaks capped with snows, lush and evergreen forests and a myriad list of things to do makes this valley, a hit among the visitors!

Fringed with gushing streams, chestnut, deodar, pine and wild-rose thickets, the route to this valley is amongst the mostly traversed in the region. Discovered in 1940 by Jack Gibson, a teacher in the Doon School, the valley later got worldwide fame and now attracts trekkers from all over the world.

About the Departure:

The approach to Har ki Dun is through the picturesque Tons valley and the villages of Taluka, Seema, Panwali and Osla. The green alpine valley of Tons is full of wild flowers - Nasturtiums, Primulas, Geraniums, white Chrysanthemums and wild roses all of various hues bloom in profusion.

The rich fragrant forests of Juniper, Cedar, Pine, Deodar and Birch are among the most beautiful in all of Garhwal Himalayas. The view from Taluka towards the Har ki Dun valley and the Banderpoonch peak is fascinating. The River Tons makes serpentine loops at this place enhancing the splendour of the entire landscape. The cold mountain air and awesome scenery make for peace and serenity that becomes a lifetime memory.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 -

    Arrival in Dehradun and drive from Dehradun to Sankri

    On the first day of the trek, you will be arriving in Dehradun. Following your arrival, get freshened up and get prepared for the upcoming journeys.

    From Dehradun Railway Station, you will be driven towards Sankri, a pretty village that has only a few shops and dhabas. Upon arrival in the hamlet, check-in into a hotel and relax till evening; evening will be al leisure.

  • Day 2 -

    Drive from Sankri to Taluka (1 Hour), Trek from Taluka to Osla

    Begin the day with a 40-minute drive from Sankri to Taluka followed by a steep climb through Osla. The route is very scenic and you will be crossing over a number of gushing streams, profusion of wild roses, irises, bamboo and deodar trees growing alongside. Overnight stay will be in a campsite.

  • Day 3 -

    Trek from Osla to Har Ki Dun

    After today’s breakfast, start trekking towards the Supin River; catching the glimpses of Banderpoonch and Swargarohini peaks, proceed through lush jungles. Continuing here onwards, you will arrive in the Ruinsara Valley, from where a gradual walk will finally take you to the Har Ki Dun valley. Arriving there, settle down in the camps and spend overnight.

  • Day 4 -

    Trek from Har ki Dun – Jaundhar Glacier (4,300m) – Har Ki Dun

    The day will be dedicated for the trek to the Jaundhar Galcier. After having breakfast in the camp, start trailing through the scenic meadows and moraines of Har Ki Dun and proceed towards the glacier. The route to Jaundhar will be pretty long and offer a bit of challenges! Upon reaching the glacier, enjoy its stunning views till you start trekking back to the campsite in Har Ki Dun for an overnight stay.

  • Day 5 -

    Trek from Har ki Dun to Osla

    After today’s breakfast, you can trek up to the scenic meadows of Haata or simply laze around the campsite. Post lunch in the camp, you will be trekking down to Seema, and following your arrival, you can opt for a visit to a nearby temple in Osla hamlet and witness the local life in the village. Interaction with the local in the village will get you acquainted with their lifestyle, culture and traditions; overnight stay will be in tents in Osla village.

  • Day 6 -

    Trek from Osla to Taluka, Trek from Taluka to Sankri

    On the last day of the trek, follow the routes you took on Day 02 and reach Taluka. Arriving in Taluka, you will be driven to Sankri, where you will be checking-in into a hotel and can also get freshened up with a bath in the cool streams; overnight stay in the hotel.

  • Day 7 -

    Drive from Sankri to Dehradun (184 km/4 Hours)

    After today’s breakfast, you will be driven towards Dehradun; en route, visit Mussoorie and explore its stunning beauty. Finally, with your arrival in Dehradun, this exciting Har Ki Dun trek will come to an end.
