Trip Starting From: Manali

  • Tight your shoelaces and head out for engaging in a majestic trekking to Hampta Pass and then to Chandrataal  Lake which are the two most scenic locations in the Himalayas.
  • This 5 day long adventurous trek starts from Manali and then you will come across the scintillating river Rani, then Chika, Balu ka Ghera, and Shea Gahru which are depicting the enthralling views of green meadows and colourful orchids.
  • The shimmering waters of Chandrataal Lake indeed will be a delightful sight for nature lovers. 
  • The trek from Manali to Hampta Pass is rated easy to moderate on the difficulty scale and is recommended for most beginners and experienced trekkers, alike.
The short itinerary is as follows: 
Day 1: Manali to Jobra drive and then to Chika.
Day 2: Chika to Bhalu ka Ghera
Day 3: Bhalu ka Ghera to Hampta Pass to Shea Gahru
Day 4: Shea Gahru to Chatru and then drive to Chandrataal Lake
Day 5: Drive back from Chandrataal Lake to Manali

How to reach:
By air:- The nearest airport for Manali is Bhuntar, 50 km (Approx.) from Manali. Air India and Air Himalayas (9 Seater Non-Scheduled Flight) have flights for Kullu. Air India have flights to Kullu from
Delhi Airport and Air Himalayas operates flights from Chandigarh Airport.
By train:- The two nearest Railway Station for Manali are at Chandigarh (350 km.) and Ambala (360 km). Onward journey can be traveled either by Chartered Taxis, Buses or by Air as Himalayan Bulls
a private 8 seater charter is available between Chandigarh and Kullu.
By road:- 
You can also reach Manali by road. There are many Volvo buses running from Delhi and Chandigarh daily. Delhi to Manali buses is available from RK Ashram Marg as well as ISBT Kashmiri gate. Chandigarh to Manali Buses is available from Sector 43 Bus Stand.
Delhi to Manali :- 585 km, 14 Hrs
Chandigarh to Manali  :- 350 Km,  8-10 Hrs
Ambala to Manali :- 360 Km, 8-10 Hrs
Shimla to Manali :- 270 km, 7-8 Hrs


  • Day 1 -

    Manali (2000M) – Jobra (2707M) – Chikha (3000M)

    Reach Manali and stay in a hotel and enjoy the day. There will be a short briefing in the evening by trek leader and team on the previous day of the start of the trek.

    Get a drive from Manali to Jobra which takes 45-minutes. Since Jobra is at a height of 2707 M, at times, some of the beginners might experience mountain sickness.

    Necessary precautions and medication prior to travel could also be advised for beginners.

    Also, keeping oneself well hydrated is advised.

    Jobra is lined by woody trails of maple, oak and deodar trees. A great view of the Rani Nallah flowing through the lush green meadows is a welcome sight to the trekkers here.

    From Jobra, the team begins the trek to reach Chikha, which takes about 2 hours.

    Chikha is known to be surrounded by glorious grasslands.

    This is where the trek team camps on the first day of the trek.

  • Day 2 -

    Chikha- Bhalu Ka Ghera (3600 m)

    After breakfast, commence the trek to Bhalu ka Ghera which will take around 4-5 hours.

    Reach Bhalu ka Ghera which is at an altitude of 3600 m offers picturesque views of the Dauladhar range and the many majestic snow-capped peaks.

    Stay overnight at Bhalu ka Ghera.

  • Day 3 -

    Bhalu ka Ghera to Hampta Pass (4300 m) to Shea Gahru (3700 m)

    Post breakfast, get ready for a long hike to Shea Gahru via Hampta Pass at 4300 m.

    This is perhaps the most challenging and exciting day of the trek.  

    Finally, on reaching atop the Hampta Pass, you will get to behold the amazing views of the Chandra valley and the beautiful barren mountains of Lahaul and Spiti.

    Enjoy the captivating glimpses of the lofty peaks of Deo Tibba and the Indrasan.

    Proceed on a downhill journey to Shea Gahru, from Hampta Pass to the camping site which is at an altitude of 3700 m.

  • Day 4 -

    Shea Gahru to Chatru (3300 m) and to Chandratal (4300 m)

    Begin yet another exciting trek from Shea Gahru to Chatru.

    Both these places are located by the Chandra river, within the Spiti valley.

    It takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach Chatru from Shea Gahru.

    Chatru is a confluence point of paths from Rohtang Pass, Hampta Pass, and Lahaul and Spiti.

    At Chatru, the route takes a deviation to Chandrataal Lake.

    After trekking for 2 to 3 hours via Rohtang, you will reach the Chandrataal Lake that offers an awesome view.

    Camp near the lake and enjoy the mesmerising view of the surrounding.

  • Day 5 -

    Chandrataal Lake and to Manali

    Today, the final day of the trek, you will be going back to Manali and from Manali you have to start your return journey.


  • Accommodation would be camping with sleeping bags, with roll on mattresses and the pantry/kitchen and toilet facilities


  • All meals during the trek(veg and egg)

  • If cancellations are made before 30 days prior to the start of the trek, either you can transfer the trek to any one else you know or get a refund of 90% of the booking amount.
