The breathtaking alpine meadow of Dayara Bugyal reigns atop a staggering 12,000 ft., against a stunning canvas of lofty Himalayan neighbors like Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Shrikhand Mahadev, Srikanth Peak, and Gangotri Peak. This trek is marked by a rich carpet of wildflowers and dense forests of maple and oak, fenced by misty valleys.
The trail unveils expansive grasslands, alpine lakes, and trickling streams that lull the senses with a sylvan symphony. The wondrous grasslands of Dayara Bugyal are locked in a Himalayan embrace and make for an ideal long weekend trek. How to Reach:
- By Air: Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 25 km from the city. There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun
- By Train: You can get to Dehradun Railway station from most major cities of India via Dehradun Shatabdi Express, Dehradun Howrah Junction Express, Dehradun Kathgodam Express, and Ujjaini Express. From the railway station, you can hire a taxi or a car to Raithal, covering 180 kilometres in approximately 6 hours. Alternatively, you can reach New Delhi via train. Then take a bus, car, taxi, train, or flight, directly to Dehradun. Buses take around 5 hours to reach Dehradun to Delhi while flights take around 1 hour to reach the capital city of Uttarakhand.
- By Bus: Dehradun is well connected to most cities, such as Delhi, Shimla, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Agra, and Mussoorie, by Volvo, Deluxe, semi-deluxe, and Uttarakhand State Transport buses.
