Overview

Adventure calls for you as you plan to visit Kotagiri, the beautiful heaven in the lap of the Western Ghats in the state of Tamil Nadu. Well-known for being a hill station blessed with the most scenic vistas of the hills and the tea gardens dotting the slopes of this place. 

And an adventure camp right in the middle of all this awesomeness awaits for you to come, explore and immerse in the rush of it all. You will get to experience exciting activities like hiking in the tea estates, cave exploration, bathing in the waterfall, and sightings of a bison. Add to that the experience of drinking the freshest tea, plucked straight from the gardens outside.

The stay would be comfortable during this experience as well, as you will be staying in sharing (triple and double) tents that come with floor bedding. The washrooms on the property are common and are located just a short distance from the campsite. And to complete the experience of living in the camps, you would also be provided with a warm campfire to sit around and enjoy with your campmates. The food provided during the stay would also be an unforgettable experience as you munch on the vegetarian food cooked in the local style.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Kotagiri Adventure Camp

    08:00 - Check-in and get allocated to your tents. Relax and get freshened up for a while

    08:30 - Tea and breakfast

    10:30 - Hiking down the slip rock to Kalaar viewpoint and cave hike (4 km from the campsite)

    13:00 - Lunch (participants should bring their own hot/lunch box for packed lunch)

    15:00 - A visit to waterfalls to enjoy the waterfall bath

    17:00 - A visit to tribe house and bison sighting

    18:00 - Return back to the base and enjoy hot Nilgiri tea provided with snacks

    19:30 - Campfire to enjoy storytelling and stargazing

    20:30 - Dinner will be served

    22:00 - Retire for the night

  • Day 2 - Check-out and Return

    A must visit place if you want to stay at kotagiri. A fun camping experience where there's a stunning view and you can reach a lot of view points and waterfalls within a few minutes of the hike. The guide we had was a very friendly person and had a lot of information about the local Flora and fauna, tribes and geography. One thing that stood out was the cook, Mr. Kannan whose food was absolute yum. Name it and he would get it for u ! Though it was a camp we were provided with cosy blankets and pillows. Clean toilets and hot water facility are a big plus. Overall, a try worth it.
