The time duration of the Edison Bungalow Tour including transportation time is 8 hours. This includes a to and fro train ride after being picked up from your hotel in Ella/Bandarawela. The train ride takes you through the famous tea estates and the green hills and valleys of Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan railway network is very famous for being scenic and crossing tea plantations, mountains,bridges,pine forests, waterfalls and valleys. The rail network itself is very old and was introduced by the British colonists in 1864. The Adisham bungalow itself is a colonial era heritage building built out of stones brought from England.
The package includes pick up from your hotel in Ella/Bandarawela in a tuk tuk with a professional English speaking guide and drop off to the train station where you will catch a train to Haputale. The train journey is very scenic and picturesque with the train going through the famed tea plantations and mist covered valleys hills.
After reaching Haputale station you will start the walk towards Adisham Bungalow. The path of the walk passes through some amazing landscapes like tea plantations, jungles and rural villages where you can see villagers selling freshly picked strawberries.
The Edison Bungalow ticket prices are very cheap and are about 20 Sri Lankan Rupees. The tickets include hotel pickup and drop ,train tickets and a guided tour to the Edison Bungalow which is run by Benedectine monks and was built in the 19th century.

The visit involves pick up from the hotel and drop to the Ella railway station by tuk tuk. The train journey to Haputale and the walk from there to the Adisham bungalow passes through some breathtaking landscapes.
The Edison Bungalow is a heritage building designed and built in the early 19th century by an English aristocrat named Sir Thomas Lister Villiers. The landscape is innately picturesque with the surrounding Haputale mountains and the covering mist. There are many stone tablets with engaging quotations inscribed on them.
The produce of the fruit orchard is used to prepare many fresh jams like the strawberry jam and the peach preserve. The shop to sell the fresh produce is housed in the erstwhile stables of this heritage building. The legendary library of Sir Thomas Lister Villiers is still intact with the old mantle and the fireplace. The collection of books in his library are said to be over 500 years old. There is a monastery run by Benedictine monks in the building at present. Lunch will be arranged in a tea plantation amongst nature with a view that is priceless.
The return journey involves a walk back to the Haputale train station where depending on the train schedule one will board the train back to Ella.
