It’s not like Kalaiselvan didn’t feel apprehensive about travelling to Rajasthan with just his partner for 9 days. After all, he was 68. But his love for travelling was more than his apprehension.
And against all odds, it began: the search for a reliable travel partner who could actually design a trip that would fit his slower pace without compromising on the highlights of Rajasthan and on-trip personnel who would be supportive and considerate of their needs.
Thrillophilia came recommended by a lot of friends and online reviews. But what actually convinced him to book his trip with them was how when connected with Piyush, he patiently painted a picture of how a slow-paced trip can also be equally as fulfilling as a fast-paced one. He provided them a day-by-day breakdown of their Rajasthan trip, explaining how each trip logistic is set into motion by a dedicated team.
Kalaiselvan could not ignore the attributed promises of a strong support system and a well-coordinated itinerary which maintained his coverage with a slower pace. And that’s when he decided to trust them.
Arriving in the City of Jaipur
The very first thing that Kalaiselvan noticed since landing in Jaipur and then throughout the trip was how respectful, polite, and punctual the drivers were. Their service extended more than just having navigational expertise, which resulted in the travellers reaching their deluxe hotel within a short period of time, but also how, along the way, the driver consistently made sure of their comfort.
This instantly assured Kalaiselvan as all his initial apprehension seemed to dissipate from his mind. He felt like he could actually relax into the rhythm of the trip because he now knew he was supported, and that was all that mattered.
Their first day in Jaipur was kept in leisure to ensure their recovery from the travel fatigue, so the actual sightseeing tour started from the next day onwards.
Their day started off with exploring the three main forts of Jaipur, Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, and Nahargarh Fort. Beyond the intricate detailing, the royal heritage, and the grandeur, each of them felt distinct in its style.
Continuing their tour after lunch, they went on to visit attractions like the Jal Mahal, Birla Temple, and the City Palace, by which the evening light had washed Jaipur in a golden hue, and the day ended with a full heart and enough energy to get started the next day again.
Exploring Junagarh at a Pace that Felt in Their Control
They set out not long after getting settled in their Bikaner hotel. The day was young, and the trip had the perfect pace. The team made sure that Kalaiselvan and his partner set the pace according to their comfort level, while the team adapted to it.
For Kalaiselvan, the trip felt entirely in their control, so even with constant movement, fatigue wasn’t quite able to catch up with them.
Bikaner sightseeing was covered by the evening, with a guided tour to the Karni Mata Temple and the camel breeding farm. Each experience being starkly different from one another, this visit in particular stayed with them for a long time.
Golden Sands and Desert Dreams in Jaisalmer
As Latha and Kalaiselvan recounted, the most prominent highlight during their Jaisalmer stay beyond the Jaisalmer Fort and Gadisar Lake tour was the Dessert camp experience. Enjoying a camel safari and spending a memorable night under the stars amidst the Thar Desert were something they had only read about in various travelogues. Experiencing it in first-person changed his perception of Rajasthan, and Kalaiselvan only had the team to thank for their early recommendation for this.
The Journey’s Closure in Mount Abu
Keeping the momentum of Jaisalmer’s resonance, they swiftly followed it up with an overnight stay in Jodhpur. The imposing Mehrangarh Fort and elegant Umaid Bhawan Palace offered a glimpse into Rajasthan’s glorious past, which, with the guidance of the local expert, they were able to entirely immerse themselves in.
The trip gradually came to an end with their last stop at Mount Abu. However melancholy about the journey’s conclusion, the cool, scenic surroundings of Mount Abu didn’t let them wallow in it for long. They soon found themselves taken into the contrasting nature of it.
The quieter surroundings, tranquil lakes, ancient temples, and panoramic viewpoints made them slow down entirely. With all destinations comfortably covered, they had all the time they needed to relax away from the usual liveliness of Rajasthan and into a softer side of it.
The ending was everything Kalaiselvan could’ve asked for and more.
Kalaiselvan’s Review and Thrillophilia’s Support
Before the trip began, he had one question for his primary POC, Piyush.
Is a week-long Rajasthan tour actually comfortable for senior citizens?
When a trip is movement-heavy, the driver controls the entire tour’s flow. The team understood that early on. Chosen for his expertise in travelling with seniors before, Sanjay Sharma was handpicked to be the primary driver for the trip.
And that became the primary reason why Kalaiselvan’s trip felt so comfortable, despite having multiple transfers, as highlighted in his Rajasthan review on Thrillophilia.
“Driver Sanjay Sharma is a good person, very punctual and professional, I am giving give him 5 out of 5.”
Apart from this, a consolidated list consisting of emergency contacts, nearby medical centres, and a 24/7 functioning number, provided to the pair before their trip, acted as an anchor of support throughout the trip, and Kalaiselvan had never felt more secure.
