Package Booked: Guwahati Shillong Meghalaya Tour Package

Travelling solo is a different kind of commitment. There is no one to split the decisions with, no one to check the itinerary against, and no buffer when something feels uncertain. Vaishali Kumari knew this going in. She had questions before the trip, and she had quite a few of them. What the Thrillophilia team gave her, before she had even packed, was a reason to stop worrying. Every query was answered. Every detail was handled. What followed was six days across Meghalaya that she called, simply and honestly, a good adventure trip.

Shillong Arrived Quietly, and That Was Enough

The transfer from Guwahati was in place on arrival. The shared Tempo Traveller moved through the first stretch at an easy pace, with a stop at Umiam Lake along the way. The lake sits between low hills and holds a particular stillness about it. It asked nothing of the visitor except a few minutes of attention. Shillong came after, and the evening was kept free. A walk through Phan Nonglait Park and a visit to the Rhino Heritage Museum gave Vaishali a first, unhurried feel of the city. It was a gentle way to begin.

Cherrapunjee Did Not Hold Anything Back

The move to Cherrapunjee the next morning brought a different energy entirely. Elephant Falls opened the day with a three-tiered drop through green corridors. The Mawdok Dympep Viewpoint stretched the valley out wide below. Underground, Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave drew the group in longer than expected. The fossil formations inside the chambers were the kind of thing that made people slow down and look properly.

Then came Nohkalikai Falls. India's tallest plunge waterfall does not need context once a person is standing in front of it. Seven Sisters Falls arrived towards the end of the afternoon. By the time the group reached the hotel, Cherrapunjee had made its case without any effort at all.

3,500 Steps, One Bridge, and No Regrets

Good company, clean paths, and a village that earned its reputation

The trek day started at Tyrna Village. From there, it was 3,500 steps down through forest paths and narrow trails to reach the Double Decker Root Bridge. The bridge, grown from living roots over generations by the Khasi people, is one of those things that photographs simply cannot prepare a person for. Standing in front of it, the scale becomes real. A local guide accompanied Vaishali and the group throughout the trek, pointing out the route and explaining the stories behind the structure. For a solo traveller on unfamiliar ground, that kind of reliable presence makes a significant difference. The climb back up was tiring. Nobody seemed to mind.

Mawlynnong, and Then the River That Stops People

Still waters, quiet hills, and boats that barely seem to move

The road to Dawki passed through Mawlynnong first. The village's reputation holds up in person. The paths were clear, the gardens tended, and the Single Decker Living Root Bridge nearby added another quiet layer to what the Khasi people have built over centuries. The Balancing Rock drew its share of curious looks before the transfer continued towards Dawki. The Umngot River arrived without warning, the way it always does for first-time visitors. The riverbed is visible straight through the surface. Boats appear to float on air. It is a view that takes a moment to fully process.

The Pool at Krang Suri Had Other Plans

A perfect mix of adventure and nature

Paddles, clear water, and an afternoon that no one was in a hurry to end

The route back to Shillong carried three more stops. The Umngot River at Jawai offered one last stretch of those clear waters before the landscape shifted higher. Then came Krang Suri Falls. The twin cascades drop into a natural turquoise pool, and the surrounding rocks make it easy to sit down and simply stay. Several people in the group spent longer in the water than the itinerary had accounted for. That kind of stop does not need justification.

Laitlum Canyon came after, with wide cliffs and long views across the valley floor. The group reached Shillong by evening. The last stretch of the day felt earned.

A Temple Above the City to Close It All

The final morning brought the drive back to Guwahati. The transfer included a stop at Kamakhya Devi Temple on Nilachal Hill. The temple sits high above the city, and the views from there stretched across Guwahati in every direction. It was a quieter, more considered close to six days that had rarely slowed down. The airport came after. The trip closed without anything left unfinished.

Why Vaishali Chose Thrillophilia?

Solo travel through north-east India carries a particular kind of weight. Shared transfers across multiple towns, a guided trek through forest trails, accommodation confirmed across five nights, permits and logistics running in the background. Vaishali had questions at every stage before departure, and she was not shy about asking them. That matters, because north-east India rewards the traveller who comes prepared, and preparation requires honest answers.

Destination Expert Shivangi Dwivedi handled those questions directly. The pre-departure consultation covered the itinerary in detail, packing essentials for March in Meghalaya, and what to realistically expect at each stop. A local guide was assigned specifically for the Double Decker Root Bridge trek, both for safety and for context on the trail. The driver managing the shared transfers was experienced on the north-east circuit and kept the group moving smoothly across all six days. A 24/7 WhatsApp support line remained available throughout, giving Vaishali a reliable point of contact whenever she needed one. After her return, a structured post-trip quality review was conducted to close the loop on the experience.

Vaishali's review was straightforward and honest, the way the best reviews usually are:

"I had a wonderful solo trip with Thrillophilia on my Meghalaya trip. As I was travelling solo, I had many queries which Thrillophilia answered well. They took care of our whole trip. Driver was knowledgeable and good. I must say it was a good adventure trip I had."

The queries were answered. The trip was taken care of. That is exactly what solo travel asks for, and exactly what was delivered.
