Travelling with a sibling comes with its own kind of excitement.

For Chetna and Deepika Verma, this trip to Ladakh was an opportunity to experience one of India's most spectacular destinations together. The itinerary promised everything Ladakh is famous for—high mountain passes, remote villages, monasteries, lakes, and dramatic landscapes that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon.

What followed over the next seven days was a journey through some of the region's most iconic locations, combined with something they hadn't anticipated while booking the trip: a wonderful group of fellow travellers who would become an important part of the experience.

A Week of Changing Landscapes

Ladakh has a remarkable way of changing its scenery every few hours.

The journey began in Leh, where the sisters spent time acclimatising and exploring the region's unique atmosphere. Soon after came the excursion to Sham Valley, where attractions like Sangam Point, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the Hall of Fame introduced them to Ladakh's diverse character.

From there, the landscapes grew even more dramatic.

The drive across Khardung La Pass opened the door to Nubra Valley, where rugged mountains gave way to vast cold deserts and the famous sand dunes of Hunder. Watching double-humped Bactrian camels walk across the dunes felt almost surreal against the backdrop of towering Himalayan peaks.

One of the most fascinating days came with the visit to Turtuk Village.

Nestled close to the border and home to the Balti community, Turtuk offered a completely different perspective on Ladakh. Apricot orchards, traditional homes, mountain views, and a rich cultural heritage made it one of the most distinctive stops on the itinerary.

The journey continued towards Pangong Lake, where the constantly shifting shades of blue created one of the most photographed landscapes in the country. By the time they reached the lakeshore, it was easy to understand why Pangong remains at the top of so many travellers' bucket lists.

The Evenings Became Part of the Adventure

While the landscapes were unforgettable, some of Chetna's favourite memories came after the sightseeing was over.

As the sun disappeared behind the mountains and temperatures began to drop, the group gathered around bonfires arranged at the hotels and camps. These evenings brought together travellers from different cities, backgrounds, and professions, all sharing the same excitement of exploring Ladakh.

Conversations that began casually often continued late into the evening. Stories from the day's adventures were exchanged, future travel plans were discussed, and friendships formed naturally.

For Chetna and Deepika, these moments added an entirely different dimension to the journey.

As Chetna shared after returning home:

"I recently booked a trip to Ladakh with my sister via Thrillophilia, and it was amazing. From the moment I landed to the day I departed, everything was great. Groups were thoughtfully created, and the staff at the Leh hotel were really nice and helpful. Bonfires were arranged at hotels and camps, which accounted for bonding with the amazing people I met on the trip. Memories for a lifetime!"

The group format created a wonderful balance. There was plenty of time to enjoy the destinations themselves, while the shared experiences added energy and warmth to the overall journey.

By the end of the week, many of the people who had arrived as strangers had become an important part of the memories Chetna and Deepika would carry home.

Why Chetna chose Thrillophilia for her Ladakh Journey

For Chetna, the people behind the trip played a big role in shaping the overall experience.

Among them, Dorje bhaiya left a lasting impression. His warm hospitality, local knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm helped make every drive through Ladakh feel enjoyable. Whether it was sharing insights about the region or ensuring the group was comfortable throughout the journey, his efforts added a personal touch to the adventure.

As Chetna shared:

"Dorje bhaiya driving us around the city was the best; the hospitality he showed, going out of the way to help us enjoy every moment – couldn't have asked for more! Highly recommend Thrillophilia!"

The welcoming hotel staff, thoughtfully planned group experiences, and seamless coordination throughout the trip further enhanced the journey. Planned by Vivek Singh and supported by the on-ground team, the experience allowed Chetna and Deepika to focus entirely on exploring Ladakh and enjoying every moment along the way.
