For Teik Narayan, Aye Maung, Yadanawin, Kavita, and Sujan, this ten-day Kerala journey was about experiencing many sides of the state together, without letting the logistics take away from the experience. The itinerary moved from Kochi’s heritage and Munnar’s hills to Thekkady’s wildlife, Alleppey’s backwaters and Kerala’s southern beaches, with enough time at key stops to actually enjoy each place.

Thrillophilia’s planning focused on making the journey comfortable between these experiences. Kochi to Munnar, Without Making the Journey Feel Like a Transfer

The first day began with a private airport pick-up and a direct transfer to Broad Bean Hotel Kochi. Once settled, the group explored Mattancherry Palace, Paradesi Synagogue, Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, Chinese fishing nets and Fort Kochi.

The following day, the journey to Munnar was planned with sightseeing along the route rather than treating the drive as lost time. Stops at Neriamangalam Bridge, Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls and Pottas Fun Farm broke up the road journey naturally, giving the group opportunities to stretch, explore and enjoy Kerala’s changing scenery before reaching their two-night stay at Amuse Vista Resorts and Spa.

Keeping Munnar to two nights was another practical decision. It avoided an exhausting arrival-and-departure cycle and gave the group a full day to explore without packing their bags again the next morning.

Munnar Was Given Time to Breathe

The full-day Munnar circuit brought together tea, viewpoints, water bodies and local experiences, from the Tata Tea Museum and Kanan Devan Hill Plantation to Macofa Chocolate Factory, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Kundala Lake.

Instead of adding another hotel move, the group returned to the same accommodation after the day's sightseeing. The private vehicle gave them a comfortable way to cover Munnar’s spread-out attractions while keeping the day's movement together.

From the Mountains to a Night on the Backwaters

The transition to Thekkady continued with a private Innova, followed by visits to Periyar National Park, Periyar Lake and Elephant Junction. The next day, rather than extending the road journey into another packed sightseeing schedule, the group moved to Alleppey and checked into a premium houseboat for the night.

This was a meaningful change of pace. After several days of road travel, the houseboat gave all five travellers a chance to slow down while breakfast, lunch and dinner were already included. There was no need to search for restaurants or coordinate meals during the stay, allowing the group to simply enjoy the backwaters together.

Two Coastal Bases, Instead of Constant Packing

The itinerary then moved south towards Varkala, with Jatayu Earth Center included en route. Two nights at West Bay, Marisol gave the group enough time for a dedicated Varkala sightseeing day covering Varkala Beach and Kappil Beach.

The next move to Kovalam was similarly planned around comfort. Rather than rushing through the coastal belt, the group received another two-night base at By The Bay Kovalam, with a deluxe sea-view room and private transport for sightseeing across Kovalam Beach, Hawa Beach, Lighthouse Beach, Samudra Beach and Azhimala Shiva Temple.

This meant the group could settle into each destination before exploring it, rather than repeatedly checking out, transferring and checking in.

Kanyakumari Without Another Hotel Change

One of the smarter routing choices came on day nine. The group travelled from Kovalam to Kanyakumari for a dedicated sightseeing day covering the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue and Kanyakumari Beach before returning to their Kovalam accommodation.

For five travellers, this avoided the unnecessary disruption of packing and changing hotels for just one night. The private Innova also meant the group could make the day trip together and return to a familiar base.

The final day brought the group through Trivandrum, with visits to Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Napier Museum and Kuthiramalika Museum before their airport drop.
