— Dimple Chauhan, Kerala Trip Review on TripAdvisor

Travelling with seven family members across three generations can be challenging. Everyone has different expectations from a holiday. Some enjoy sightseeing, and some prefer relaxing experiences, while younger travellers are often looking for something fun and memorable along the way.

For Dimple Chauhan and her family, Kerala turned out to be one of those destinations that managed to bring everyone together. Over six days, the family explored the misty hills of Munnar, the forests of Thekkady, the famous backwaters of Alleppey, and the heritage-filled streets of Kochi. More importantly, they returned home with shared memories that every generation could talk about.

Munnar Was the Perfect Beginning

The holiday began with a scenic drive from Kochi to Munnar.

As the roads climbed into the hills, waterfalls started appearing around almost every bend. Stops at Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls quickly turned into family photo sessions, while the cooler weather offered a welcome change from city life.

The next day gave the family a chance to explore Munnar more deeply. While the adults enjoyed learning about Kerala's tea-growing heritage at the Tea Museum, the younger members were far more interested in the chocolate factory visit that followed. Between chocolate tasting, rolling tea gardens, and viewpoints such as Yellapatty Grassland and 2nd Mile Viewpoint, there was enough variety to keep everyone engaged.

One of the biggest advantages of Munnar was that it never felt rushed. The family could stop at viewpoints, spend time admiring the scenery, and simply enjoy being together without constantly moving from one attraction to another.

A Houseboat, Backwaters, and Time Together

Every Kerala itinerary has a highlight.

For the Chauhan family, that highlight was Alleppey.

After several days of road journeys and sightseeing, stepping onto a houseboat felt like entering a completely different world. The pace slowed down immediately. Instead of highways and busy attractions, there were narrow canals, coconut trees, fishing boats, and peaceful villages passing by on either side.

The children spent much of their time watching life unfold along the backwaters, while the adults enjoyed the rare opportunity to sit back and relax without worrying about schedules.

As the boat moved through the waterways, the family shared meals, conversations, and uninterrupted views of Kerala's famous backwaters. Looking back, it was one of those experiences where the journey itself became the attraction.

Kerala Kept Showing a Different Side of Itself

Thekkady and Kochi added entirely different experiences to the trip.

At Thekkady, the family visited Periyar Lake, surrounded by forests and rolling hills. The atmosphere felt completely different from Munnar's tea estates and Alleppey's backwaters, showing yet another side of Kerala's landscape.

Later, in Kochi, history took centre stage! Walking through Fort Kochi and visiting Mattancherry Palace allowed the family to explore a city shaped by centuries of trade, migration, and cultural exchange.

By the final day, what stood out most was how varied the journey had been. Within less than a week, the family had experienced mountains, waterfalls, wildlife, backwaters, and historic towns without ever feeling like they were repeating the same kind of sightseeing.

What made Dimple choose Thrillophilia for her family trip to Kerala?

For a family of seven, smooth logistics can make all the difference.

Throughout the trip, transfers, hotel arrangements, and sightseeing plans were coordinated through Thrillophilia, with Yashika Variyani helping design the itinerary. On the ground, Mr Sihab became an important part of the experience, ensuring the family could comfortably travel between destinations while sharing local insights along the way.

Reflecting on the journey, Dimple specifically mentioned how much they appreciated the arrangements and the support they received throughout the trip.

While there were a few aspects they felt could have been improved, particularly regarding the houseboat accommodation, what stayed with the family most was the overall experience itself. The scenic roads of Munnar, the peaceful backwaters of Alleppey, the beauty of Kerala's landscapes, and the opportunity to enjoy it all together.

For the Chauhan family, Kerala wasn't just a collection of destinations. It was six days of shared experiences, family time, and memories that, as Dimple put it, kept Kerala's mesmerising beauty alive long after the trip had ended.
