Sher Singh had always wanted to travel to Japan with his partner, Raj Rajan. After years of putting it off, they finally decided to go ahead and make the call to Thrillophilia, whose traveller stories and reviews online weren’t unknown to them.

Nupur, their destination expert, started off by taking a note of their preferences and coordinating a planning team to put together their itinerary, keeping in mind their age group, budget, and most importantly, their preferred pace.

What resulted was way more than just a trip; it was the execution of a trip that Sher Singh had visualised thousands of times over the years. And the best part was that it was everything he had hoped it would be.

Into Japan's Cultural Soul: Kyoto, Nara & a Seamless New Beginning

Sher Singh Bharti embraced the culture, sights, and spirit of Japan

For Sher Singh and Raj Rajan, their Japan journey began with one of the country's most celebrated travel experiences, the Shinkansen. Their transfers from Hyatt Regency Tokyo to Tokyo Station, onwards to Kyoto Station, and finally to Kyōto Dai-ichi Hotel were carefully coordinated, making what could have been a multi-step intercity journey feel remarkably effortless. This thoughtful sequencing meant they arrived in Kyoto relaxed, with ample time to settle into their hotel and absorb the city's slower, more traditional atmosphere after the fast-paced energy of Tokyo.

Their first full day introduced them to the timeless heritage of Kyoto and neighbouring Nara. Beginning from the Kyoto VIP Lounge, the guided excursion brought them to the magnificent Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), whose gold-leaf façade reflected beautifully across its surrounding pond. The journey then continued to Nara, where the grandeur of Todai-ji Temple and the friendly free-roaming deer of Nara Park offered an experience unlike anywhere else in Japan. Travelling with an English-speaking guide added valuable historical context to each stop, while the shared coach tour ensured that navigating two of Japan's most culturally significant destinations remained convenient and completely stress-free. By the end of the day, Sher Singh and Raj Rajan had already experienced the remarkable contrast between Kyoto's centuries-old traditions and Nara's enduring spiritual heritage, all without having to concern themselves with the complexities of local transport or route planning.

Beyond the Usual: Coastal Views & Countryside Traditions

Every stop on Sher Singh Bharti's Japan journey became a memory to cherish

Their final day in Kyoto took the two partners beyond the city’s famous temples to experience a lesser-explored side of Japan. Beginning from the Kyoto VIP Lounge, they travelled towards Amanohashidate, one of Japan’s celebrated scenic views, where a cable car ride revealed the pine-covered sandbar stretching gracefully across Miyazu Bay. A sightseeing boat cruise offered a different perspective of this natural landmark, allowing them to appreciate why it has been admired for centuries.

The journey then continued to the peaceful village of Miyama, known for its traditional thatched-roof farmhouses (kayabuki) that preserve the character of rural Japan. Far removed from the country's bustling cities, the village offered an authentic glimpse into Japanese countryside life, complemented by a local lunch and insightful commentary from the guide.

From Osaka's Vibrancy to Universal Adventures

Sher Singh Bharti discovered the perfect blend of tradition and modern life in Japan

After checking out of Kyōto Dai-ichi Hotel, Sher Singh and Raj Rajan made the short transfer to Osaka and settled into the Shin-Osaka Station Hotel, perfectly positioned for exploring the city's lively attractions. With the rest of the day at leisure, they had the freedom to experience Osaka in their own way, which they appreciated given the activity-filled day before. They took their time sampling the city’s street food and simply relaxed with an early night for their next day at the Universal Studios, something that Raj Rajan was particularly excited about.

Their final full day was dedicated to Universal Studios Japan, one of Asia's most celebrated theme parks. With pre-arranged admission and private transfers, they could focus entirely on enjoying the park's immersive worlds, high-energy rides, live entertainment, and movie-inspired attractions without worrying about transport or ticketing. From adrenaline-filled experiences to cinematic sets and themed zones, the day offered a fun contrast to the cultural and historical experiences of Kyoto. It also highlighted the versatility of their itinerary, balancing Japan's timeless heritage with its world-class entertainment while maintaining the same smooth execution and attention to detail throughout the journey.

The Trip’s Closure and Thrillophilia’s Consistent Support

Before their departure, the team had already provided the two travellers with a list comprising of emergency contacts, nearby medical centres, and restaurants located close to their accommodation to ensure easy accessibility throughout all 6 days. This alone worked as a huge sign of relief for both Sher Shingh and Raj Rajan, while the team continued with their daily briefing calls to ensure the trip’s quality.

After the 6 days, Sher Singh came back with a Japan review of only a few words, but that was enough to signify that the trip had gone smoothly, and the team’s continued efforts were a success.

“Very good experience with thrillophilia.”
