The chaotic rhythm of urban life often leaves little room for quiet, uninterrupted family bonding. That is why Deepankar wanted to gift his parents, Dilip and Lovely Roy, a relaxing, comfortable, and deeply memorable retirement celebration. Having already pushed his own limits on Thrillophilia’s rugged Spiti Valley expedition and tracked the high-altitude terrains of Sikkim, Deepankar was no stranger to the mountains and to our exceptional trip planning.
However, traveling with senior parents meant the priorities had to change completely. The extreme adventure had to be swapped for meticulous comfort, smooth transits, and a thoughtful layout. To make this multi-city family vacation across Himachal Pradesh a reality, he collaborated with our destination expert, Avika Mour, to design a seamless 10-day grand itinerary utilising a private sedan for complete flexibility and comfort.
The Charm of Shimla and Manali

The holiday kicked off with a smooth morning pickup from the bustling Delhi Railway Station. Leaving the warm plains behind, the private sedan climbed comfortably into the cool, mist-kissed ridges of the lower Himalayas, delivering the family to their deluxe hotel in Shimla.
The next morning opened up the colonial charm of the region as they embarked on a full-day excursion to Kufri. Surrounded by sweeping valley views and refreshed by the crisp mountain breeze, the family shared quiet moments as they walked along the cedar-lined trails. Deepankar guided his parents up to the historic Jakhoo Temple, perched on the highest peak of the ridge, before wrapping up the afternoon with a stroll through Lakkar Bazaar, where they shopped for traditional wooden handicrafts and enjoyed local cafés.
As they ventured deeper into the mountains, the family checked out of Shimla and started out on a scenic drive toward Manali, tracing the winding, vibrant landscapes of the Kullu Valley. The riverside vistas offered the perfect excuse for spontaneous photography stops, allowing Dilip and Lovely to rest without feeling rushed.
Arriving in Manali, the crisp air shifted the energy of the trip beautifully. The family spent the following day exploring the dramatic slopes of Solang Valley, taking in the panoramic alpine vistas. They spent their afternoon engaging with the cultural roots of the valley, walking through the ancient wooden structures of the Hadimba Devi Temple nestled inside dense dhungri forests, and later unwinding near the therapeutic hot springs of Vashisht.
Riverside Camping in Kasol and Tea-Garden tours in Dharamshala

The landscapes and scenery transformed once more as the private sedan drove them into the emerald, pine-dense landscapes of the Parvati Valley toward the peaceful town of Kasol. Seeking an authentic wilderness experience, Deepankar chose a deluxe riverside campsite over a standard hotel room.
The family spent their afternoon soaking in the spiritual serenity of the iconic Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara, taking a dip at the natural geothermal hot springs that run alongside the freezing river currents. As darkness fell over the valley, the camp staff organized a private community bonfire right by the banks of the roaring Parvati River, providing a cozy atmosphere where the three of them could share stories over hot meals under a star-filled sky.
Refreshed by the riverside air, the journey progressed toward the spiritual heart of the Dhauladhar range, passing through lush green mountains and sprawling tea gardens to arrive in Dharamshala. A full-day excursion into McLeodganj offered a profound cultural retreat for the family.
Walking slowly through the peaceful complex of the Dalai Lama Temple and listening to the gentle ambient sounds of the Bhagsunag Waterfall, the family felt completely cut off from the noise of daily life. The afternoon wrapped up with a delightful session of café hopping, sampling traditional Tibetan tea while looking out at the snow-covered peaks.
Fairytale Meadows and Pine Forests in Dalhousie

The final grand chapter unfolded as the family traveled toward the serene hill station of Dalhousie. The definitive highlight of this leg was a full-day excursion to the magical meadows of Khajjiar, globally celebrated as the 'Mini Switzerland of India'. Lined by dense deodar forests, the vast green expanse, and the quiet lake at the center provided a fairytale backdrop for Dilip and Lovely to relax. Deepankar saw them happy and relaxed after a long time, and he could not have been prouder of himself for taking this trip.
After returning from the trip, Deepnakar generously wrote his honest review on our platform.
"I already had two trips with Thrillophilia (Spiti exp and Sikkim). The whole itinerary was well-suited, and it was smooth and hassle-free throughout the journey. Everything was well planned and has been delivered"
