Some trips are about seeing as much as possible. Others are about having the right experiences with the right person. For Abhishek Goel and his partner, their six-day Bali getaway brought the two together, with quiet landscapes, island adventures, sunset views and a few experiences made especially for two.
They began their holiday with a simple plan. Arrive in Bali, settle into their stay and spend the next few days discovering different sides of the island together. What followed took them from the volcanic landscapes of Kintamani to the cliffs of Nusa Penida, from temple-lined highlands to an evening at Uluwatu. Somewhere between the sightseeing and the adventure, there was plenty of time to simply enjoy being away together.
Their Bali Story Began in the Highlands
One of their first full days took them into the heart of Bali, beginning around Kintamani. The volcanic landscape around Lake Batur and Mount Batur offered a dramatic start before they continued to a local coffee plantation, where Bali's coffee and spice-growing traditions added a glimpse into the island's countryside. The scenery became even greener at Tegalalang Rice Terrace, with layered rice fields stretching across the hillsides, followed by Tegenungan Waterfall and its tropical surroundings.
The day ended at the Bali Jungle Swing, where multiple swings and photo nests were surrounded by greenery. With unlimited access to the swings and a complimentary local lunch included, it gave the couple a lighter, more playful experience after a day spent exploring Bali's countryside.
From Highland Temples to a Sunset by the Sea
The following day brought another dramatic change in scenery. Their first stop was Handara Gate, set against the cool, green landscape of Bedugul, followed by Ulun Danu Beratan, one of Bali's most recognisable temple complexes. Set beside Lake Bratan, its distinctive shrines and lakeside setting created a quieter experience surrounded by water and highland scenery.
By evening, they had travelled towards the coast and reached Tanah Lot, where one of Bali's most famous sunset settings awaited them. The temple stood against the ocean as the light began to fade, bringing together the mountains, lakes and coastline they had explored throughout the day.
Nusa Penida Was Their Big Adventure
Then came the island day. The couple crossed the sea to Nusa Penida, where the landscape became far more dramatic. Their western island tour took them through Kelingking Beach, Angel's Billabong, Broken Bay and Bubu Beach. At Kelingking, the famous cliff formation rises high above turquoise water, while Angel's Billabong and Broken Bay brought them face-to-face with the island's rugged limestone coastline.
At Bubu Beach, the experience became more relaxed, with time to get closer to the water and enjoy the possibility of snorkelling. After a full day surrounded by cliffs, beaches and blue water, the couple returned to Bali with another experience waiting for them.
Dinner for Two
The evening brought a softer side of the trip. On the way back to their hotel, Abhishek and his partner stopped for an Indian vegetarian candlelight dinner, complete with a rose and a glass of wine.
After a day of island adventures, the setting offered a complete change of pace. The dramatic cliffs and sightseeing of Nusa Penida gave way to a quieter evening centred around the two of them, adding a romantic pause to an otherwise adventure-filled holiday.
A Final Day of Adventure
Their last full day in Bali brought the energy straight back. At Benoa, they took on three watersports experiences: a banana boat ride, couple parasailing and jet skiing. The morning combined speed, water and a little adrenaline before the couple headed towards Bali's southern coast.
Their next stop was Uluwatu Temple, dramatically positioned above the Indian Ocean. As evening approached, they watched the Kecak & Fire Dance, a traditional Balinese performance known for its rhythmic chorus and dramatic storytelling. The open-air setting around sunset brought together scenery, culture and an experience they could share before their holiday came to an end.
