“Had a very good and enjoyable time there. Thank you very much, Thrillophilia.”

A holiday in the Andamans can be as relaxed or as adventurous as you want it to be. For Chetan Desai and his wife, the idea was to spend a week discovering the islands at a comfortable pace, taking in beautiful beaches, enjoying the sea and exploring some of the destination’s most memorable sights together.

Their seven-day journey brought together the historic charm of Port Blair, the beaches and blue waters of Havelock, the quieter landscapes of Neil Island and the fascinating history of Ross Island. There was plenty of time for scenic ferry rides, leisurely walks by the coast, water activities and those peaceful moments that make a tropical holiday feel like a proper break from everyday life.

Here are some highlights from Chetan’s seven-day Andaman holiday!

Port Blair, the Journey with History by the Sea

Chetan shared a memorable group moment during his Andaman trip

Their first day in the Andamans brought them to Port Blair, where the holiday began with coastal scenery and history. After arriving at Veer Savarkar International Airport and settling into their hotel, they headed towards Corbyn Cove Beach.

With the ocean stretching along one side and tall palm trees lining the shore, Corbyn Cove offered an easy introduction to the tropical character of the islands. It was a chance to slow down after the journey and take in the scenery before visiting one of Port Blair’s most important landmarks.

At Cellular Jail, the atmosphere changed completely. The historic prison, associated with India's freedom struggle, offered a glimpse into a very different chapter of the country's past. As evening arrived, the couple stayed on for the light and sound show, where the story of the jail was brought alive against its historic walls.

Havelock Turned the Holiday into a Beach Escape

The next morning, the couple boarded a ferry from Port Blair towards Havelock Island. The journey across the sea itself became part of the experience, with open blue waters surrounding them as they made their way towards one of the Andamans' most popular islands.

Once in Havelock, Radhanagar Beach was the big highlight. The long stretch of white sand, turquoise water and thick green surroundings created the kind of landscape that makes you want to stay a little longer. Chetan and his wife could simply walk along the coastline, enjoy the views and watch the colours change as the sun moved towards the horizon.

The following day brought a more adventurous side of Havelock. A speedboat ride took them towards Elephant Beach, where the clear waters invited them to get closer to the marine world around the island. They had the opportunity to try a demo snorkelling session and enjoy the warm waters of the Bay of Bengal, while scuba diving at Neemo Reef was another option for those looking to explore further beneath the surface. For the couple, Havelock brought together the two things that make an island holiday so enjoyable: beautiful scenery and plenty of time to simply enjoy being there.

A Sunrise at Kalapathar and a Slower Side of Neil Island

Chetan enjoyed a peaceful beach moment during his Andaman trip

Their fourth morning began before the usual holiday rush. Chetan and his wife headed towards Kalapathar Beach to watch the sunrise, arriving as the first light began spreading across the coastline.

The shimmering Indian Ocean looked especially beautiful in the morning light, creating a peaceful start before they returned to their hotel and continued towards Neil Island. Another ferry ride carried them across the Andaman Sea, with the landscape gradually shifting towards the quieter atmosphere of the island.

Neil Island gave them a slower afternoon to explore the coastline. At Laxmanpur Beach, they discovered the Natural Coral Bridge, one of the island's distinctive coastal formations. Bharatpur Beach offered soft sands and clear waters, with opportunities to enjoy water activities, while Sitapur Beach brought a more peaceful experience with its coastline, cave and ancient coral formations.

Ross Island and North Bay Added Adventure and History

The following day brought them back towards Port Blair for another island-hopping experience. A ferry took them towards North Bay and Ross Island, bringing together underwater adventures and fascinating history in one outing.

North Bay offered the opportunity to experience the Andamans from beneath the surface. Depending on their preference, visitors can explore the surrounding waters through snorkelling, glass-bottom boat rides, scuba diving and underwater sea walks. The clear waters and marine life made it another chance to experience the islands beyond their beaches.

Ross Island brought a completely different atmosphere. Once an important administrative centre during the British era, the island is now surrounded by greenery and dotted with the remains of its colonial past. Walking through the ruins offered a fascinating contrast to the bright blue waters and tropical landscapes seen throughout the rest of the trip.

By the time they returned to Port Blair, the couple had experienced yet another side of the Andamans.
