Saboo Khalsar trek starts from Saboo village around 7 km from Leh.
Saboo Khalsar trek passes through the Pasture grazing land for the herds of Saboo. You can have beautiful views of Saser Khangri and Karakoram Range. Enter into the majestic valley called Nubra via Digar La. Walk along the river of Shyok to Khaltsar. A walk of 3-4 hours will bring you down the Shyok Valley, which moves to the pretty village of Khalsar (3105m) on the Leh “ Panamik road.
Saboo village: Saboo village is the most beautiful villages of Ladakh. Explore the Local Buddhist residence which consists of the private chapels. Pay a visit to the conventional Kitchen.
Nubra Valley: The name Nubra is used for the valley of the Nubra River. Cherish the atmosphere and the aroma of colorful flowers.
Shyok valley: Shyok River streams through Shyok Valley which looms range of the Shyok Mountains. Shyok valley is surrounded by rich vegetation.
How to get there
By Air: Indian Airlines and Jet Airways have regular flights to and fro Leh. Leh airport is linked with important cities like Delhi, Srinagar and Chandigarh.
By Road: Regular state transport bus services run between Srinagar and Leh and Manali and Leh. If you do not prefer traveling by bus, the alternative available is jeeps.
By Rail: Jammu is the closest railway station and is 734 km from Leh. From here Buses take two days to reach Leh.
Best time to visit: June to October
- This reasonable trek can be reached maximum up to 3500 meters, which requires reasonable fitness.
- Moderate trek requires normal or average physical ability.
- Do not travel alone.
- Make sure that you do not dirty the surrounding places and camping sites while trekking.
- Carry water and boosters like chocolate, snacks with you.
