What is Kanchenjunga Trek Route?
First Day:

The trekking to the Kanchenjunga peaks start from Yuksom in the West of Sikkim. You head towards Sachen which is settled at a distance of around 8 KM and one is assumed to complete that in the time span of 5 hour. Following the gorges of the Rathong River, one will pass through the dense forests of magnolia, rhododendron and ferns.

After crossing the Paha Khola Bridge, you will be resting among some exotic species of the orchids and other colorful flowers along with local monkeys.

Second Day:

On the second day, there will be a 7 KM stretch to be covered until Tshoka. Among the aromatic viburnum plantations, you will be crossing the Prek Chu River. After ascending uphill for the next 2-3 hours, you will reach the mesmerising Bakhim. And finally you will be calling the day at Tibetan refugee Settlement in Tshoka.

Third Day:

The third day requires you to walk for 6 KM to reach Phedang at the height of 12,000 feet. It would be a 4 hour long journey through the spectacular woods of rhododendrons. Well laid tribal trails will take you to the campsite arranged in Phedang where you can relax for the day.

Fourth & Fifth Day:

The fourth day will require you to cover another 6 KM within 3 to 4 hours so that you can reach Dzongri on time. It is settled at a height of 12,980 feet so it will be very much important to take a day off here to acclimatize to the local weather and atmospheric conditions.

You can also stroll around the proximity of Dzongri and get yourself familiar with the beauty of the site which includes the picture perfect views of the Koktang, Rathong, Kabru, Khangchendzonga, Simvo and Pandim peaks.

Sixth Day:

The sixth day will require to travel 8 KM long stretch until Thangshing at 12,900 feet. It would be of around 6 hours long journey encompassing the views of the colourful prayer flags at distance along with the peaks of the Kanchenjunga and Pandim. And finally you spend the night at the campsites in Thangshing.

Seventh Day:

The seventh day of trekking will take you through Goecha La to Lamuney. The beautiful Samiti Lake, Zemathang Plateau and Goecha La Pass will accompany you throughout your hiking. Moreover, at your stay in Lamuney, you will be having the gleaming Samiti Lake on one edge of your campsite.

Eighth Day:

The eighth day of trekking would be your coming back to the grounds and the first day will require you to hike back until Tshoka and take a rest there. It would be a great journey and opportunity to soak in the beauty of this route one last time before you ascend so take all the advantage of your last day.

Ninth & Tenth Day:

This will be followed by the ninth and the last day when you finally make it to Yuksom, the base camp and complete your expedition to the lap of Kanchenjunga. By now, you have covered around 90 KM up and down and witnessed the hidden gems of the Kanchenjunga Peaks along with the exotic species of the flora and fauna en route.
