    Pindari Kafni Glaciers Trek

    Pindari Kafni Glaciers Trek is nestled in the upper reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas.

    Pindari Kafni Glaciers is located to the southeast of Nanda Devi. Kafni River, a tributary of Pindar River, originates from this glacier.

    The peak of Nandakot towers over this glacier and on the left lies the Pindar valley. From the glacier, you get to witness the spectacular view of the Nandakot (6860m) and Nandabhnar (6236m).

    The route to Pindari glacier (altitude of 3353 m) covers the same Kafni glacier track up to Dwali. This popular trekking destination is situated between snow capped Nanda Devi and Nandakot mountains. Pindari glacier is the source of River Pindari, and most of the trekking trail is along the banks of this river.

    The landscape is spectacular and wild and this trekking expedition provides an enthralling and nerve tingling experience. The base of this easy to moderate level trek is at Loharkhet, and the trail is well-defined.

    How to Reach

    The nearest airport for Almora is Pantnagar, and the nearest railhead is in Kathgodam, which is well-connected with Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkatta. From New Delhi, you can board an overnight train to reach Kathgodam. There are number of buses that ply between Haridwar and Kathgodam.

    From Kathgodam, you take the route to Dhakuri via Loharkheft, and then you move to Khati. From Khati, you follow the trail that takes you towards Dwali and then to the respective glaciers. The route to Pindari and Kafni glacier is common up to Diwali.

    Exact Location: Pindari is located in Patti Malla Danpur and Kafni glacier lies towards the left of Pindari valley below Nandakot.

    Best Time to Visit: April to June, September to October

    Gannath: Gannath is located 47 km from Almora. The place is bestowed with natures beauty. Natural caves and Shiva temples make this place attractive for both nature lovers and religious people. A fair is organised every year on Kartik Purnima.
