Mt Harriet Kalapathar Trek
Mt Harriet Kalapathar Trek is the highest peak in Andaman can be reached by a ferry from Chattam and from there by a Jeep to the peak. Mt. Harriet has some of the most magnificent bird sightings including many endemics & lifers.The total trail is 16 km.
There are other Trekking routes also available at places like Chidiya Tapu etc. Trekking equipment and tents are available on hire from Andaman Teal House. An intermittent bus service runs between Bamboo Flats and Hope Town. Jeeps and taxis are available to take the tourists all the way to the top to Mount Harriet National Park.
From here you can traverse to Madhuban on the coast northeast of the mountain by the 16 kilometre round route via Kala Patthar (Black Rock) and back via the coast. There is a decent beach at Madhuban and the area is still used for training logging elephants, so the tourists stand a good chance of seeing them learning their trade.
How to Reach: Reach by Air from Chennai to Port Blair and then from Port Blair to Islands by Sea or Road. Regular ships are available.

Best time to visit: For adventure sports between November and April. December and January are the peak seasons.
Trek length: There is 1.6 km mini trekking trail to Kalapathar. (Mt. Harriet is 365 meters hill, just north of Port Blair)
