Haridawr or Rishikesh are reachable by bus.taxi/car. The Haridwar rail head is linked with Delhi and several other important cities of India. From Haridwar you can proceed with your jeep safaris to the Kumoun and Garhwal region.
Rishikesh is connected to all the chief towns and cities of India. Some of them are accessible only from Haridwar.
