Where is Rishikesh? How can I reach Rishikesh from Delhi?

Rishikesh is a beautiful and serene place with full of adventure and spirituality, in the northern state of Uttrakhand. It is 242 km from Delhi via NH 334. It is 25 km north of Haridwar and 43 km southeast of the state capital, Dehradun.

  • Air: You can reach Rishikesh by air, train or bus. Jolly Grand is the nearest airport to Rishikesh approximately 15 km away. Multiple direct flights are available from Delhi, making it affordable and faster to fly to the area. From Delhi airport, it’s a 6 to 7 hour journey.
  • Train: Travelling by train is a little difficult. Although a quite branch connects Rishikesh to Haridwar, there are just three slow trains daily.
  • Road: From Delhi, the city is about 230 km away and is well-connected with buses. You can also drive down to Rishikesh, as the roads are great and the journey also has a pleasant scenery.

When is the best time to visit Rishikesh for rafting?

Is there any age bar to indulge in the sport of river rafting in Rishikesh?

Even though there isn’t a prescribed age bar, 13 to 45 can be considered the ideal age for undertaking such adventurous expeditions.

Is Rishikesh Rafting safe for children and the elderly?

Rafting in Rishikesh is pretty safe unless you’re in one of those areas called rapids. Rafting being an adventure sport in Rishikesh and Ganges being a violent river, is somewhat risky by nature, but, if you follow certain rules and regulations, you’ll be safe. However, children and the elderly shouldn’t even think of going in the higher rapid levels. It’s really very unsafe there. Since quite a few tragedies have been reported there already, it’s definitely a No-No for them.

What if I fall out of raft during rafting?

Firstly, you won’t. And in case you do, the life jacket you’d be wearing will keep you above water. If you know how to swim, you may reach the coast on your own. If not, then the life guards will save you.

What is the cost of rafting in Rishikesh?

Cost of rafting varies from INR 400 to INR 1850 per person depending upon the distance to be covered and how difficult the journey is.

 

For ex. 9 km river rafting from Brahmpuri to NIM Beach costs INR 400, 12km from Brahmpuri to Rishikesh costs INR 450, 24 km from Marine Drive to Rishikesh costs 750 and so on.

What is the distance between Shivpuri and Rishikesh?

The distance between Shivpuri and Rishikesh is 660km. It takes 12 h 46 min to travel via Taj Express Highway.

Is it safe to do camping in Rishikesh?

Yes! It’s really safe and that’s because so many travelling organizations arrange camping sessions along with the various adventurous activities. Camps are put up at decent places which are safe from wildlife attacks and where resources are easily available.

Do mobile phones work at campsites?

They rarely do. BSNL network is mostly found otherwise most private networks connect with a lot of difficulty.

Is electricity available in tents?

Solarelectricity can been generatedand used for various purposes. However, for budget camping, electricity is not always available.

How are the toilets at the campsite?

At normal water level, 3 - 6 people sit comfortably. If it is high water, 8 -10 people share the raft.

Will there be life jackets provided to me during rafting?

Yes, they’ll be provided. They’re intended to keep you alive by keeping your head above water. These high performance floatation devices are designed for offshore severe conditions and are therefore very important to be worn.

Ideally you’re not supposed to smoke or drink here. It is strictly prohibited by companies organizing various expeditions. Even if you’re travelling on your own, it’s advisable you avoid them.

 

Such activities entail certain amount of risk, which may cause damage to equipment, cause injury, illness or in extreme cases permanent trauma and death. Can we do Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh? How much it will cost?

Bungee jumping in Rishikesh is an activity which involves jumping from a tall structure while being connected to an elastic cord. Rishikesh has India’s highest fixed platform Bungee, ‘Jumpin Heights’ (83m) at Mohanchatti, which is 25 km from Rishikesh and is the most ideal for bungee jumping.

 

You can try bungee jumping at INR 3,500 with 100 bucks entry fee and 300 bucks coaching fee, per person.

Thrillopia and local staff was good… initially i placed 9 km rafting plan… but they suggested me to do 16 km and they charged me nominal charges which i had paid extra. Service was good
