Everest Base Camp Trek: Leadership Expedition
Travel Dates: 1st to 16th May About the Destination:Everest is known to be the highest peak in the world, rising way above the clouds and towering over the rest of the Himalayas. The Everest base camp trek brings you face to face with the summit of the world's tallest mountain, Mt Everest (8848 m above sea level), and teaches you some of the most important life skills on the go of this adventure.The trek will infuse a feeling of accomplishment in you, and at the same time, demand your entire focus, commitment, and hard work. The Everest Base Camp is the first step towards the summit of the giant mountain and sits at a height of 17,600 ft above sea level. You will travel through the land of Sherpas, known to be an entire tribe of mountain climbers, to arrive at the base camp and get your first glance at the famous Khumbu Icefall. And not just the adventure, the opportunity to click some of the best pictures of the surroundings also presents itself. During this tour, you will be passing through a number of villages of Nepal, rest at local Nepalese Tea Houses, and become privy to the lifestyle and culture of these high altitude areas in Nepal.About the Tour:- You will be arriving at Kathmandu Airport where you will be picked up and taken to the accommodation for the night. The rest of evening is free for you to enjoy as per your leisure. Make sure to take proper rest as you will be starting a little early the next morning.- The next morning a flight will take you from Kathmandu to Lukla, from where you will start your trekking expedition to reach Phakding. From here on you start the trek to Namche Bazar, where a day will go by in acclimatizing to the high altitude weather, as by now you are at a height of 3,440 m above sea level.- The trek then takes you on to Tengboche, Dingboche, Duglha, Lobuche, Kala Patthar, and finally Gorakshep, with planned acclimatization at Dingboche. Gorakshep is the village from where the final push towards the base camp starts and is perched on a height of 5,170 m above sea level.- You then trek towards the Everest base camp at a height of 5,364 m above sea level, and after spending some time, descending down to Periche. How suited this trip is for you?The trek for young adults (14 to 19 years old) is designed to challenge you and your understanding of a number of life skills. You will have a phase of enhancement of your skills in self-discovery and leadership. One may not require any prior experience in trekking, but you may need to have a Very good level of fitness. You can start as early as 2 to 3 months or take training of 6 weeks at least. You could be walking up to 5 to 6 hours on the first few days but some days may need you to be on your feet for 8 to 9 hours. *Note: Phones are strictly prohibited on this trip and you are unlikely to be able to contact your family during the duration of the trip (2 weeks).
