At a distance of 21 kms from Dalhousie, Khajjiar is a much talked about tourist destination also known as ‘Mini Switzerland of India’. Long drawn meadows surrounded by lush green dense forests and lakes leave an everlasting impact and create immense opportunity for adventure activities like trekking, camping, paragliding, zorbing and horse riding. And just around 9 kms away from Khajjiar and 12 kms from Dalhousie lay the mesmerizing Kalatop wildlife sanctuary. Long nature walks or trekking, this place has every reason to be favourite amongst trekkers and nature lovers. Dense forests thickly covered with pine, deodars and oak trees interspersed with river streams; the sanctuary is pristine and is a home to a variety of flora and fauna. The route to kalatop is 4kms via lakkarmandi near Dalhousie.

The spectacular short trek to the highest peak in Dalhousie, Dainkund is also a must visit.  Located at an altitude of 2755 metres, this peak gives a 360 degree view of the entire valley. One can also see the Air force base, just a few metres away from the famous temple at Dainkund. A 40 kms of trek to Jalsu pass is another good option for an amateur trekker. Here you walk through the tiny hamlets and mud houses, watching the rolling grasslands with vegetation extending over long distances. In nutshell, the charming Dalhousie has every reason to be so famous for.

Being situated at 2035 meters over the ocean level, the Satdhara waterfall proffers a tranquil environment and wonderful climate to all its visitors. The term Satdhara signifies 'a blend of seven streams'. The water from this waterfall is said have medicinal properties and healing powers.

Laxmi Narayan Temple

When planning places to visit in Dalhousie, make it a point to add Laxmi Narayan Temple to the list. The fascinating part about this place is that it is an antiquated sanctuary devoted to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Being built in the Shikhara style by the Kings of Chamba, it is also a major architectural attraction.

Bara Pather

Bara Pather is a very popular destination in the town of Ahla, situated in close proximity of General Post Office, Dalhousie. Take a short break and do visit this place while you are travelling towards the Kalatop Sanctuary. Based amidst the woods, Bara pather is an abode to the pristine Bhulwani Mata Temple.

This Temple is approximately 60 M away from Dalhousie water works. The tantalizing panorama here attracts innumerable tourists. Here you can appreciate cool wind amid the hot and sticky summers. It also has a Potato Farm, which is an additional traveller spot.

Panchpula

Panchpula is one of the beautiful places to visit in Dalhousie. Located approximately at a distance of 3 km from Dalhousie, this place is a major tourist attraction. It is a mother stream that flows through various parts of Dalhousie, feeding water to several other water bodies. 

Panchpula that originates from the north of Dayakund, is popular for its mesmeric vista and also holds historical significance. A Samadhi has been built as a tribute to Sardar Ajit Singh, a great revolutionary. When here, do not forget to savour their delectable local cuisine.

Chamera Lake

Deo Tibba Base Camp Trek

Trek to Deo Tibba  starts at Jagat Sukh which is 6 km southwards from Manali. This village is quite old. Trekkers can have a slight diversion to tour Rohtang pass for enjoying the grandeur of Pir Panjal range.

On the trail of this trek you can see Gaddi shepherds herding their cattle’s in the green pastures and the Chandertal lake famous for its unearthly beauty. The trekkers will also pass by the Hampta pass at a height of 4,000 metres. One can visit the tiny hamlets of Chatru also on the way.

The Deo Tibba glacier is dotted with boulders and huge rocks, but according to the locals of the surrounding areas, the glacier is full of white and black crystals which are hard to find. On reaching the Deo Tibba base, you will be offered a visual treat of gurgling stream, a carpet of colourful flowers and a magnificent sight of the Deo Tibba peak. You will find a rock bridge, which has formed naturally, over the stream.

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary

Take an audacious tour through the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located in the Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh. Explore this fascinating animal sanctuary, which is enveloped by fir and deodar woods.
