    Bheemeshwari is a heaven for angling lovers and among the favourite destinations for day outings in Bangalore and is situated in between Shivasamudra falls and Mekedatu falls.This town is a great spot for eco tourists. It is a natural habitat for mahseer fish and people from all over the world come here to have some great time fishing at the river of Cauvery. There are a number of fishing camps here. These camps are fully equipped with basic amenities like nets, shower and toilets. The town has a dense forest surrounding it; an abundant wildlife and an interesting assortment of birds have these forests as their habitats.

    Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy nature treks covering the beautiful forest area. You can do this trek anytime of the year. It takes a bit over two hours to drive to Bheemeshwari from Bangalore.Hence an ideal team outing destination near Bangalore.

    How to Reach

    From Bangalore: Take the national highway (NH) to reach Halagur Village via Kanakpura. Reaching the village, take the village road that takes you to Bheemeshwari via Muthati. The nearest airport and railhead is in Bangalore.

    Doddamakkali Nature Camp: It is located 7 km upstream of Bheemeshwari. You can reach the rugged terrain by trekking from Bheemeshwari. Here, the majestic Cauvery River forms a pool which is ideal for water sports.

    Galibore: Located 16 km away from Bheemeshwari, Galibore is surrounded by huge Terminalia Arjuna trees. The river cuts through in the front, which is bounded by hills on each side. One can spot herd of elephants near the bank of the river.

    Bheemeshwari Wildlife Sanctuary: This sanctuary is located amidst the shimmering waterfalls of Mekedatu, Barachukki and Gaganachukki in Mandya district. Its natural habitat harbours Mahseer fish, and houses an incredible variety of wildlife. Cauvery Fishing Camp is nearby, which is a haven for anglers. The best time to visit Bheemeshwari National Park is December to March.
