The best way to experience the ambrosial green valley of Wayanad is on foot. Along with the natural gift of dense forest and high mountains, the region is also blessed with undaunted tea gardens and cardamom forests.
The 6 km long trek of this beautiful valley begins at around 10 AM. The activity begins from a tea garden at Meppadi on the foothills of the gentle hills. Though the trail continues on a steady mount, the trek itself is considered only moderately difficult. In between you will pass over a gurgling mountain stream, various plantation hamlets until you reach the gatepost at the tree line. When you walk through a small meadow, you will arrive at the mountain river again, where the chilly water gleefully rushes in between enormous black rocks.
Lunch will be served at around 1 PM on the river bank; post which you can plunge into the stream and relax before continuing your trek out of the tree line into meadow to a spectacular scenic viewpoint.
After enjoying the breathtaking natural beauty of the surroundings you will begin your descend onto the plantation trail.
