This valley is at an altitude of 3250 m and above. This valley is also a core zone of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve with an expanse of 87.5 sq km which is just a colourful paradise with alpine flowers. According to the legends, it is believed that this is the place where Pawan Putra Hanuman had collected Sanjeevani Buti to cure Laxman. The trekking camp 'Rhododendron Trek' is presented at Devariyatal, Uttaranchal. It is a short easy trek running parallel to the high Himalayan Treks. In this trek you walk though verdant tropical and alpine forests where a great variety of orchids and rhododendrons and primuleas carpet the alpine terrain.
We can begin a trek here for the upper areas of the Langtang Valley. Nine species of Rhododendron can be seen in this region. An easy 4 km trek from there takes one up to the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Rhododendron Trek - a trek adorned with beautiful resplendent flowers of rhododendrons grown in their full bloom.
