While for the non-adventurers this trek might sound difficult and strenuous, for the thrill mongers it is a dream come true. Geographically, Kanchenjunga and other surrounding five massive peaks are together forming the third highest peaks in the world.

They are in the mighty Himalayas located in the small beautiful state of India, Sikkim. The Main, Central and South are the three major sections of the peak and they are all located in touch with the borders of India and Nepal.

Trekking was not allowed here initially and later when explorers started unwinding the trek routes, they could find the hidden treasures like lakes, dense forests, tribal villages, landscapes and rich flora and fauna. The massifs spans across the major boundaries of Nepal, Tibet and India and the fact is that till 1849, Kanchenjunga was considered to be the highest peak in India before the discovery of Everest and K2. The verdant meadows, quaint villages, gleaming mountains, secluded regions, snow-clad summits, gushing rivers and lakes are the prominent attractions lying on the way to the base camp. These are the simple reasons for trekkers to choose this strenuous trek to rejuvenate themselves.

The people of Sikkim often assert that North Sikkim is as stunning as Switzerland. We may hear it when we will get there, or see it repeatedly mentioned in various brochures and guide books. Several decades earlier, a European guest of our late king had passed a remark to that order, and now the legend lives. True to this erstwhile visitors remark, many others after him have also reiterated the fact that North Sikkim is undeniably truly attractive. The views are ever-changing; along the way include rustic wayside hamlets bounded by terraced fields, monasteries, torrential mountain streams with lush green forests everywhere.

The journey to the North follows the North Sikkim Highway. This drive is an exploratory drive, which passes through high hills and deep river valleys that ends up in the foothills of the Himalayan Treks where gentle meadows overlook snow-clad Rocky Mountains.

Green Lake Trek in North Sikkim is very luxurious as it also includes Liaison Officer from the Home Department, Government of Sikkim and Liaison Officers from the Indian Army accompanying the group on the sikkim trek, all the expenses has to be borne by the agency, which is not required for other regions.

About the Roopkund Trek:

The Roopkund trek is an invigorating expedition from the high altitude region of Loharjung, in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand at 3200m, to the ‘Skeletal Lake’ of Roopkund shadowed by the mighty peak of Trishul standing tall at 5000m. The trail for the trek that leads to the frozen Roopkund Lake also overlaps with the religious pilgrimage of Nanda Devi thus making this experience of trekking in Uttarakhand, an overall mix of culture and adventure.

Going by legends, the ‘Mystery Lake’ is immersed and circled by hundreds of skeletons which is the major attraction of this trek. The skeletons happen to belong to pilgrims who fell to their deaths due to the unexpected natural calamities.

For trekking enthusiasts, the Roopkund trekking is an idyllic one comprising of trails cutting through dense thickets, surpassing the gushing waters of brooks and streams as well as charming lakes and vast expanse of lush grasslands, also known as ‘Bugyals’. At the top of the mysterious lake of Roopkund, get the opportunity to witness and marvel at the stunning views of  Roopkund Glacier, Trishul, Nandaghungti and Choukhamba peaks.

About the destination:

The mysterious lake of Roopkund is cradled in the laps of Mt. Trishul and perches at a dizzying altitude of nearly 16,500 ft.! Draped in a blanket of mystery and myth, the lake is home to skeletal remains of countless humans and animals, which are clearly visible when the snow has melted away. This has earned it the name ‘Skeleton Lake Trek’. The trail to Roopkund originates from the base village of Lohajung, and winds through mesmerising forests of oak adorned with vibrant rhododendrons.

One of the highlights of the Skeleton Lake trek is that it takes you through the twin meadows of Ali and Bedni Bugyal, which are two of the highest alpine meadows in Asia. The locals generally bring their herds to Bedni Bugyal for grazing. Bedni Bugyal makes for an ideal campsite, and unfolds breathtaking views of the neighbouring Nanda Ghunti and Chaukhambha, though the magnificent Mount Trishul rises above all others to render you truly speechless. To add to the veil of myth, there are various stories that revolve around the trek. Every campsite has a backstory which the locals will gladly share with you.

The trek from Bhagwabasa, the last campsite, to Roopkund starts very early in the morning, with millions of stars playing chaperone. Although a bit daunting towards the end, the reward more than compensates for the exertion, and everything else pales against the splendour and glory of Roopkund Lake. If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, you can also trek further up to the ridge of Junargali, from where Mount Trishul seems only a touch away! The beauty and glamour of this trek is virtually unequalled, making it one of the most unmissable treks in the Himalayas, and every trekker’s dream! The awe-inspiring thrill of Roopkund will leave you with memories of a lifetime.

Har - Ki - Doon is located in the Western Ganges of the Garhwal Himalayas, at the base of the Fateh Parvat, at an altitude of 3,556 meters. This is a cradle shaped Valley, which is bounded by dense forests of pines and gleaming mountain peaks.

The Hanging Valley of Gods is a luxury for those who love Trekking. This modest trek would take us to one of the least explored regions of Garhwal. The scenic beauty and the glistening snow-clad Swarga-Rohini peak is the main attraction.

As Har-Ki-Doon drops within the Govind wildlife Sanctuary, a wild life enthusiast is sure to strike gold. This sanctuary is a delight to not just bird-watchers but also ardent nature lovers. Also located in the Fatch Parva region, in one of the most beautiful villages, is the skilfully carved temple, bestowed to Duryodhana, the Kaurava prince from the Hindu mythology.

The livelihood of the local populace is farming rice, rajma and charas. They make use of the wood of Deodar tree for their house. We can find many people using Hookah for smoking. One can smell of pine while having hookah. Similar treks like the Chopta Tungnath trek are also very popular.

Ladakh and Zanskar form the western edge of the Tibetan plateau and are popularly known as the Little Tibet due to the similarity of the culture and the high altitude desert landscape. Politically, this region forms a part of India, though the religious head is still the Dalai Lama.

This trek goes into the hidden kingdom of Zanskar. The trek offers close encounters with Zanskari life, passing interesting villages with their little gompas on practically every day of the trek. The route also takes in eight high passes and, depending on the time of the year, up to a dozen river crossings including the Zanskar river.

Lamayuru is a beautiful place. The flora and fauna is also similar to Tibet and is quite distinct from the rest of the Himalayas. The region, being beyond the reach of the monsoon, is dry with sparse vegetation. Willow groves and poplars are found near villages. Bushes of eidelberry, wild strawberry and sage brush are also common. The fauna includes marmots, blue sheep and ibex and an occasional snow leopard, besides many birds of prey.

It is one of the popular treks, which leads to the Zanskar Valley. The trek takes one through the many Zanskar villages and various monasteries there in. A slow ascent up to the pass and then a steep descent to the Tsarap River brings one right into the heart of the Zanskar. The trail follows the river most of the way.

We will drive from New Delhi to the lush and exotic Kullu Valley crossing the Rohtang Pass to reach the start of the trek at Darcha. Towards the western end of the Himalayas a series of continuous mountain ridges, comprising scores of 6000m (20000 foot) peaks forms an effective barrier between the Indian provinces of Lahaul and Ladakh. Linking these contrasting mountainous regions is a Ladakh trekking route that provides one of the great challenges of the Indian Himalayan Treks.

We head north across the Shingo La into the ancient kingdom of Zanskar which is famous for its hardy inhabitants and starkly beautiful landscape. On the way one can encounter a row of isolated villages and numerous wonderful Buddhist monasteries, notably at Phuktal, Lingshet and Lamayuru. As a finale to what is unquestionably one of the world's most classic Indian trekking experiences, one can also plan to explore the fascinating and legendary Ladakhi capital of Leh.

This trek is tough and challenging and at the same time it is beautiful and rewarding. This trek needs proper advanced preparation with regards to the participants physical condition as well as the team setup. This trek is also known in Himachal as the Parang la Trek as it crosses through the high pass of Parangla at an altitude of 5089 M which is the highest point in this trek. The average walk per day is about 6 hrs though variations are there on individual days.

Ladakh Trek from the beautiful Spiti Valley in Himachal over high passes to the picturesque lake of Tso Moriri inLadakh tour package and then on to the rugged mountains of Rumtse. It is one of the most beautiful trails in the Western Himalayas going over Parang La with its grand view and Changpa territory.

A nomadic community (living off flocks of yaks and sheep), the Changpas have a timelessness about them. Trading in pashmina, yaks and living in yak hair tents called rebos, they have adapted to the harsh dry air of the Changthang.

The trek is also a great one to catch sight of high altitude Wildlife such as kyangs or Tibetan Wild Asses (their only other cousins are the wild asses of Rann of Kutch in Gujarat), the highly endangered black-necked cranes, bar headed geese and Tibetan wolves.

This trek which starts from Ladakh and ends in the tribal region of Himachal Pradesh can be considered “off the beaten trek” as less people opt for it due to its toughness. Most fascinating part is that it passes through the high altitude lake Tso Moriri.

It is here that the team members get to use their innovative abilities and get an opportunity to bond. As this type of project requires many skills sets to ensure success, a team that strives to utilize each member’s strengths is that one that will shine.

In this theme, the different teams start working from the Stone Age and eventually rise to Civilization and High-Tech World. During this event, they will pass through 3 Ages, i.e. Stone Age, Iron Age and Nuclear Age, Nuclear Age being the most recent. As you and your group pass through each age, the behaviour, clothes, language see a change accordingly. At every age, the teams need to work on a different war cry. For every stage, there is a task that needs to be finished which will allow them to move in to the next. The three levels are.

Stone Age

The prop for this theme is a piece of rag. Here the task given is relatively simple. You and your team will have a build a man pulled cart that will assist the entire team in crossing over to the next age.

Iron Age

Get into the zone of the age with a long hat. At this stage, the activity gets complex. You and your team members need to build the bicycle with the materials given and travel to Nuclear Age.

Nuclear Age

Teams must build a car and successfully test its functionality, with one person sitting and others pushing.

The thrilling game ends here. The team that manages to complete all the tasks first and come out with ingenious designs is the one that will emerge as triumphant one.

About the Destinations:

If the world ever becomes too much for you and you want to go to a place that is untouched by the whims of humanity, The Darcha Padum trek is waiting for you. The natural beauty of the valley is so overwhelming that it has even made the hearts of the residents here, pure and unassuming. What makes Darcha to Padum trek a must go destination is the fact that due to its isolation, it only has access to the rest of the world for 5 to 6 months each year. The scenic valleys, lilting streams, rocky canyons and towering mountains make up the virgin beauty of this paradise.

The prosperous heritage of Ladakh and Zanskar valley is further sanctified by the Phuktal Monastery, which crops up on a narrow edge of a cliff showing great architectural skill. However, this beauty is soon to evaporate into the pages of history due to infrastructure work connecting Zanskar and Himachal valley. Enrich yourself by embarking on this once in a lifetime opportunity!

The trek to Himachal Pradesh offers an implausible look into the pin valleys and Spiti valleys. From Kullu, we would descend to the Spiti valley, Gompa and all the other adjoining villages. The landscape transforms radically after you cross the bhaba pass.

The empty land is now filled up with dense forests of cedar as well as pine. Kunzum la and Rohtak pass gives us an amazing insight to the beauties of nature.

Visit the dhankar monastery which is a famous monastery. Rest at the base camp and continue to trek at the Bhawa Pass. Then you would come across the Bhawa River. The trek would end here at Shimla- once capital of the British.

North of the Great Himalayan Treks, amongst a tangled knot of jagged mountains, lies a rugged and fascinating land, the once independent kingdom of Zanskar. Sandwiched between the Indus Valley and the main crest of the Indian Himalaya, this remote and inaccessible setting well guarded by snowy mountain passes, has kept alive an archaic form of Tibetan Buddhism which flourishes in chain of far-flung monasteries, most of which occupy spectacular fortified locations, high on rocky ridges in isolated valleys.

On the way you get to visit some ancient monasteries dramatically built on jagged hillsides and also stop and meet the Friendly Zanskari inhabitants. Quaint villages, high grassy meadows, a few crystal clear springs, shimmering snow clad mountains and the beauty of the desolate landscape makes this a fascinating trek.

Lovely high meadow camp sites and dry desert land, high passes and snow-capped peaks stunning scenery, Buddhist monasteries and picturesque villages with their irrigated fields of barley and potatoes, and fascinating encounters with the Zanskari people turn a trek in this area into an unforgettable experience.
