About the Destination:
Situated in the Western Ghats towards the coastal parts of Karnataka is the Sharavathi Valley wildlife sanctuary, a region rich in biodiversity and home to the second-highest plunge waterfall in India - the Jog Falls. Named after the river Sharavati flowing here, there is also the Linganamakki reservoir located in its premises. The ride in this region takes you through this natural reserve and its surrounding areas making it an unforgettable experience.
Description:
This 2-day guided cycling trip begins at night around 10 pm when you depart from your home and travel overnight to Hosanagara by road. On reaching Hosanagara early morning, freshen up and have breakfast at available cottages, after which the guided cycling stage of the expedition commences. In an hour you would reach the historical village of Nagara where you would be visiting the fort built on a small hill, beside a lake. Reach Nittur village around 1 pm, have lunch and relax for a short while before resuming pedaling towards Sigandur. Reach the camping site near Linganamakki reservoir in the evening, stay in tents for the night and relish in dinner served by the bonfire.
The next day starts in the early hours around 6 am when you have breakfast and then cross the reservoir with your cycles on a motor launch. You would be riding on a scenic route to Sagara and would also have a brief stopover at a Shiva temple in Ikkeri. On reaching Sagara around noon, a vehicle will take you to the Jog falls where you would have lunch and can unwind with a splash in the refreshing waters in the shallow areas. Since the distance between Sagara and Jog Falls is approximately 28 kms, you could choose to ride your bicycle to the falls too. You will resume your journey back to Bangalore at 4 pm and reach the city by midnight where your cycling tour comes to an end.
