Nestled amidst the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Kodachadri is located at 1,343 meters above the sea level. Designated as the 10th tallest peak in the state and a precious natural heritage location, Kodachadri trek boasts of compact forests, beautiful waterfalls en route gorgeous jungle trails and picturesque landscapes.
The name of Kodachadri is derived from the words Kodacha and Adri, which in the local language means home of the hill jasmine flowers. The peak of Kodachadri is perfect canvas like backdrop to the famous Mookambika Temple and also the Mookambika National Park. Being in the heart of this national Park, there are various opportunities for wildlife and trekking enthusiasts. Located in the Sharavathy Reserved Forest in Shimoga, Kanoor Kote is a treasure trove for trekkers. Rediscover history and enjoy the natural beauty on this 10km trek that would take around 7 hours over two days.
Starting from Bangalore at 10pm, the journey to the basecamp in Shimoga comprises of around 335km and takes about 9 hours. Arriving at the camp, have breakfast. Around 8am, start trekking through the different terrains and reach the historic remains of the ancient Kanoor Kote Fort near the peak, which was once the pride of the Havyaka Culture. Continue trekking till the second half of the day and make it to the peak. Enjoy the panoramic views and relax beside a lively bonfire at the peak.
Next morning after breakfast, at 8am, start trekking to the nearby Dabbe Falls and get close the magnificent beauty of the cascade. Following this visit, trek back to the basecamp, have lunch and start your return journey to Bangalore.

Difficulty Level: Easy
Located 80 km from Shimoga and around 20 km from Thirthahalli, the Kundadri Peak is known for its pristine beauty. Comprising of easy terrains, the main highlight of this trek is a 17th century Jain Temple located at the Kundadri hilltop and a visit to the Sharawathi backwaters. This trek would cover around 14km within 6 hours over two days.
After a late night journey at 10pm from Bangalore, arrive in Shimoga and check-in into a hotel early in the morning. Post breakfast, start trekking towards the Kundadri Peak around 8am and enjoy the spectacular views of the surroundings. Visit the historic Jain Temple near the peak and reach a nearby campsite for an overnight stay.
Next morning, start the trek back to the basecamp at around 8am, visit the Sharawathi backwaters and arrive at the campsite. After breakfast, mark the end of this trek with your onward journey towards Bangalore.
