About the Destination:
One of the most scenic and evergreen wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka, the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in Somwarpet, Coorg, is an ideal destination for the nature lovers. Home to some of the rare and endangered birds in the vicinity, this wildlife protected area is also acclaimed throughout the world for its rich and diverse avifauna range. Tucked away between Bisle Reserve Forest and the Kukke Subramanya Ranges, this sanctuary is also the abode of the fascinating Pushapgiri Peak, which is the highest peak in this region and the Kumaraparvat (or Kumaraparvatha).
Be it for the nature lovers, or the adventure junkies visiting Coorg, this wildlife area serves as an enticing host! With its myriad list of flora and fauna like Albizialebbeck, Artocarpuslakoocha, Dysoxylummalabaricum and Mesuaferrea, Indian Wild Dog, Brown Palm Civet, Indian Giant Squirrel, Indian Hare, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Indian Muntjac, Gaur, Asian Elephant, Wild Pig, Giant Flying Squirrel, Travancore Flying and several others, the sanctuary proves to be treasure trove for almost all types of visitors.
About the Activity:
Arriving at the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary by around 08:30AM, you will be briefed about the tour in details. After the briefing session, fill up the mandatory form and get prepared for an enthralling Pushpagiri wildlife trek!
Starting the trek by around 09:00AM, hike through the lush and scenic trails, witness the immaculate beauty of the sanctuary and get ample of opportunities to have an encounter with the inhabitants of the sanctuary. The 14km trek to the Pushpagiri Peak will take you around 4-5 hours.
Hiking up to the peak, witness and enjoy the astounding views and get soaked with all the different colours of the Mother Nature. Spending quiet and pleasant moments at the peak, start trekking back to the base.
Arriving at the base at around 03:00PM, enjoy a filling lunch and relax for a while. Post this, depart the site and continue with your onward journey.
