Be greeted by the warm hospitality of the farmers, spend some time in their house and visit their paddy fields. They tell you about the techniques of organic farming and the processing methods of rice and also impart knowledge on the ways of nature and birds. This two and a half hour trail through the history of dancing in Chennai reveals the many fascinating stories of the city and the way it is embedded in the everyday lives of the people. There are two options for the activity start time, you can choose the 10 am or 3 pm one.
Dancing, the art of storytelling through expressions forms an integral part of Chennai’s rich cultural heritage. One can find touches of it in every aspect of the city’s life, from the sculptures in the historical temples to the dance sequences in contemporary Tamil cinema. You will be explained the basic elements of Bharatnatyam -one of the most expressive dance forms in the country- by a professional dancer. Learn the ways to interpret the various stories expressed by a dancer’s expressions. Further, get a chance to learn the basic steps as a choreographer takes you through some dance routines. All along this time you also get to know about the various stories in connection with the city and its history of dancing, the famous dancers and the controversies they attracted.
