Unwind with a rafting trip at Kothad that is an island 10 kms away from Kochi, a major port city on the west coast surrounded by the river Periyar. A winding maze of interconnected channels, lagoons and lakes make up the backwaters of Kerala where this activity is conducted.
The paddling session would begin at 3:30 pm, with a brief introduction on safety aspects to be followed while kayaking in the waters. You would be kitted out in buoyancy vests before proceeding for the rafting in the meandering backwaters enclosed by tall coconut trees on both shores. On the way you can view local residents going about their daily life, fishermen angling for a good catch, or vendors ferrying their wares on small boats. This excursion also lends you an opportunity to spot regional birds like kingfishers, ducks, cormorants and darters. Photographs and videos of you propelling your kayak will be taken by staff assisting you on the trip.
