If you are looking for the ultimate level of river running in todays India, Total Tons Tonnage River Expedition is the place where your search ends. The distinguishing quality of this trip is its throughout consistent whitewater quality situated in some unbelievable high mountain landscape. Several torrents are flowing in these mountains which range right from Class III to V. This is not it. Amazingly, its whitewater sections are separated from others by an approximation of hundred yards flat water; making it perhaps the most methodological raft tour in the mountains of Himalayas.

Its adrenaline highs and utopian white water of 120 kms raises the standard of this expedition from all other expedition experiences. In fact, it gives a tough competition to the finest of waters across the world.

Not just the river tour but the trip is preceded by cozy noon where you can enjoy short hikes into the leafy alpine forests along with camps in calf high mint and marijuana. This started in 1986 by Jack Morison in form of an excursion of California, White Magic. The best month for planning this out is suggested to be may. So, every interested person, especially the diehard rafter will never forget this soulful experience with thrill and joy.

Sunder Dhunga Valley means the "Valley of beautiful stones". The trek is a little more meticulous than its better known "cousin's" of Pindari and Kafni. Once we reach the top, we will have all the answers regarding its name. It is visited by many tourists who come to Uttaranchal.

The valley Sunderdhunga lies along Sunderdhunga gad (Stream) which sticks together the Pinder River just below the Khati village. There is a village called as the last village on the Sunderdhunga valley, which is just 7 km away from Khati. Beyond Jatoli there is nature at its best Rippling streams, waterfalls, undisturbed wildlife and open meadows. Apart from this, there is a towering southern ring on the Nanda Devi Sanctuary whose peaks like Mrigthuni, Maiktoli, and Panwali Dwar are adjoined together with sharp ridges and hanging glaciers, dominate the Sunderdhunga valley. The upper reaches of the valley open at the meadows of Kathalia where local shepherds move in with their flocks during summer. The lush green meadows named Bal Top and forest of Rhododendrons and Juniper can be seen while travelling.

Ladakh and Zanskar form the western edge of the Tibetan plateau and are popularly known as the "Little Tibet" due to the similarity of the culture and the high altitude desert landscape. Politically, this region forms a part of India, though the religious head is still the Dalai Lama."

This trek goes into the hidden kingdom of Zanskar. The trek offers close encounters with Zanskari life, passing interesting villages with their little gompas on practically every day of the trek. The route also takes in eight high passes and, depending on the time of the year, up to a dozen river crossings including the Zanskar river.

Lamayuru is a beautiful place. The flora and fauna is also similar to Tibet and is quite distinct from the rest of the Himalayas. The region, being beyond the reach of the monsoon, is dry with sparse vegetation. Willow groves and poplars are found near villages. Bushes of eidelberry, wild strawberry and sage brush are also common. The fauna includes marmots, blue sheep and ibex and an occasional snow leopard, besides many birds of prey.

It is one of the popular treks, which leads to the Zanskar Valley. The trek takes one through the many Zanskar villages and various monasteries there in. A slow ascent up to the pass and then a steep descent to the Tsarap River brings one right into the heart of the Zanskar. The trail follows the river most of the way.

We will drive from New Delhi to the lush and exotic Kullu Valley crossing the Rohtang Pass to reach the start of the trek at Darcha. Towards the western end of the Himalayas a series of continuous mountain ridges, comprising scores of 6000m (20000 foot) peaks forms an effective barrier between the Indian provinces of Lahaul and Ladakh. Linking these contrasting mountainous regions is a Ladakh trekking route that provides one of the great challenges of the Indian Himalayan Treks.

We head north across the Shingo La into the ancient kingdom of Zanskar which is famous for its hardy inhabitants and starkly beautiful landscape. On the way one can encounter a row of isolated villages and numerous wonderful Buddhist monasteries, notably at Phuktal, Lingshet and Lamayuru. As a finale to what is unquestionably one of the world's most classic Indian trekking experiences, one can also plan to explore the fascinating and legendary Ladakhi capital of Leh.

Chumathang is well known for its springs. It has medical importance but the use of water here is also done to wash clothes. The Chumathang village is not very far from the springs and a small monastery nearby can be a good place to explore.

From Chumathang we walk across the village, cross the animal pastures, get a chance to spot wildlife like blue sheep and marmots and take in some amazing sights of natural beauty. After 5 hours we arrive at Gangra. Next stop is Sumdo that takes 4 hours. Sumdo is where three valleys merge together. It is a sight to behold and surely a place to pitch up tents for the day.

From Sumdo we leave for Phayalung. It takes about 8 hours for the trek to complete. Climb to Choku La is pretty tough hence we start early in the morning. From Phayalung we trek to Yayatso. We come across several shepherds, a gorgeous flowing river, a desert plateau and then the village Yaya. The lake near this village is called Yaya tso. We drive down to Mahe halting to visit the nunnery and then go straight to Leh.

They then get the team spirit going by creating their song and March past, proudly depict their empire. Next steps involve training the army on various war fronts by confronting to the challenges coming their way. For each challenge completed, teams earn ammunition. The better their performance in the games, the more ammo they will have to use against the other teams in the final fight. Through the by default material and extra ammunition earned, they need to build the fort and trebuchets/catapult. Post this begins the amazing battle of battles to conquer the world. Last fort standing is considered to be the next ruler.

There are several fun activities that you and your team have to overcome to triumph the empire. This includes Canvas Walk, Bridge Building, Roller Bridge and 3D Spider Web. In 3D Spider Web, participants from each team have to cross a web without touching any part of their body to it. Teams can go under, over and within the web to cross it to the other side. The other fun games include Ball Traversing, Catapult and Palace Building (where you will have to creatively build a castle with the materials given), Longbow Archery and Jousting Knights. In Ball Traversing, you will have to get to one point to another on a huge ball. The team that successfully completes all the tasks will be blessed with the crowning glory.

North of the Great Himalayan Treks, amongst a tangled knot of jagged mountains, lies a rugged and fascinating land, the once independent kingdom of Zanskar. Sandwiched between the Indus Valley and the main crest of the Indian Himalaya, this remote and inaccessible setting well guarded by snowy mountain passes, has kept alive an archaic form of Tibetan Buddhism which flourishes in chain of far-flung monasteries, most of which occupy spectacular fortified locations, high on rocky ridges in isolated valleys.

On the way you get to visit some ancient monasteries dramatically built on jagged hillsides and also stop and meet the Friendly Zanskari inhabitants. Quaint villages, high grassy meadows, a few crystal clear springs, shimmering snow clad mountains and the beauty of the desolate landscape makes this a fascinating trek.

Lovely high meadow camp sites and dry desert land, high passes and snow-capped peaks stunning scenery, Buddhist monasteries and picturesque villages with their irrigated fields of barley and potatoes, and fascinating encounters with the Zanskari people turn a trek in this area into an unforgettable experience.

Rumbuk is a Beautiful village which lies in the route of Stok Kangri. As one approaches Rumbak fields the valley suddenly opens up with snowcapped mountains in the background which is a great place to view Ladakh flora and fauna. Some of the prized sightings would be Blue sheep, the Great Tibetan sheep or the Argali, various mountain and migratory birds, high altitude flora and occasionally a Tibetan Wolf or a Snow leopard if extremely lucky.

During this trek one also gets to tread through the Stok La pass (4900 M) which commands great views of the Indus valley. En route one can visit the Stok Palace museum which houses rare collections of Ladakhi rulers.

This trek is the part of the Markha Valley Trek - a well known trek famous for wild animals. In fact a documentary made on Snow Leopards which eventually won a lot of appreciation and awards was shot in the same valley. It is a perfect moderately difficult trek for the weekend traveler. This valley features open plains and camels that can be found roaming around the Shayok River. The politic allocation of the valley enabled its opening to foreign visitors not until the later half of the 1990s. Compared to Leh, Nubra is around 400 meters lower in height and has a variety in terms of climate. This has enabled the locals to engage in extensive cultivation compared to those living in the Indus Valley.

Lamayuru to Rupsho Trek has a very interesting route beginning at the famous Lamayuru monastery; you walk up the less travelled Ripchar Valley with its small villages, nomadic settlements and pastures where you see a wide variety of flowers and many species of birds from the end of July to end of August.

In this Ladakh trek we will cross from some of the high passes with excellent views of the Karakorams and the Zanskar mountains. The initial part of the trek ends at Chilling, a small village and the only one where Ladakhi metal work is carried out. From Chilling, we cross the river by a cable pulley. A different set of ponies are on the other side of the river to carry our gear. We then continue on to Markha Valley - considered one of the most beautiful valleys in Ladakh.

Here, we pass through several Ladakhi settlements and observe their lifestyle. Several river crossings are involved, but these are not dangerous. Crossing several more passes, through gorges and wide open pastures, we end the trek at Matho village. Here we visit the monastery built on a hill between Stok and Stakna, the only monastery belongs to the Sakyapa order. It is worth visiting this monastery also for the beautiful view that it offers of the valley. Another popular trek is the Parang la trek.
